Commercial Description:
Using special yeast and Pittsburgh's relatively soft water, we introduce our Czech pils. The color is golden yellow and slightly darker than our celestial gold. Big full but delicate fresh hop aroma from the nobel czech saaz. Flavor is bold and malty with a distinct hop flavor. Finish is crisp and clean with some lingering saaz bitterness. Novice and seasoned beer drinkers alike should enjoy this beer. Grains: pilsner malt, caramel malt and wheat malt. Hops: czech saaz. OG: 12.5P, 1.05 S.G. Bitterness: 40 IBU, ABV: 4.6% Mash schedule is single concoction.

On tap at Club 3000, PNC Park. Tangy hops aroma, floral with some grassy sweetness but also some sour pilsner malt. Cloudy golden with thin lacing white head. Medium body and carbonation. Nice pilsner aroma with carbonic gaseousness and acidity. Light sour funky quality to it, too. Perhaps because it’s unfiltered or maybe an unclean line. Not unpalatable. An interesting pils, for sure.

On tap at the CBW. Golden yellow, white head. Aroma is malty, hoppy and subtle. Flavor is is crisp and slightly bitter, with hints of citrus and vanilla. I rather like the more bitter nature of this beer and I think this is a good example of the genre.

Pale yellow like any other ubiquitous pale yellow american lager. Mild aroma, it just smells like good ol beer. Taste comes across with an initial mild bitterness but it is not over the top. Has a much lower impression of IBU than is what’s listed in the description. Light carbonation. Has that typical background flavor of many CBW brews. Certainly a pilsner, has a gnawing building bitterness with each sip. Bitter bite builds ensues with each slug and culminates on the finish. On style but perhaps a little more bitterness than this lager lover can appriciate.
