Commercial Description:
Dalbhach Dunkel Weizen This Dunkel Weizen is dark amber in color with strong overtones of wheat and hints of spice, vanilla, clover and banana due to the yeast used in fermentation. For many, this beer pairs well with most foods, though it is traditionally paired with lighter more delicate cuisine. We encourage you to be your own judge; be bold, experiment and enjoy! Details: Grain Used: Wheat, Dark Munich, Pils, Carafall, Torrified Wheat Hops Used: Vanguard, Tradition Original Gravity: 14.9 P 1.056 S.G. Hop Bitterness: 13 IBU’s

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a pale brown, orange-tinted with a thin rim in white. Aroma throws a nice crisp classic Weizen yeast aroma. Banana-heavy. Flavor is right in line, with a wonderful combination of freshly slice fall MacIntosh apple, banana puree, and caramelized pear. Very nuanced, juicy and bright. Great flavor profile from the yeast, tinged in a Bananas Foster way with brown sugar and rum. Balanced and crisp. Excellent!

A flavorful and aromatic dunkelweizen. Aroma was near perfect. Strong banana and clove with yeast and little else interfereing. Pour was a nice cloudy dark brown with a one finger near tan head. Taste was strong and wheaty. Heavy on the banana and clove with just touches of roasted malt and a hint of caramel after it warmed. Not as much carbonation as I would like in a dunkelweizen, but most of CBW beers lack that. All in all, solid but middle of the road.

Dark coppery mahoganey body, off-white lasting creamy head. Nice sweet fruity wheat body. What is a little stale, but it is okay and the yeasty esters give it a nice character, similar to a good NG wheat. Pretty good.

Overall this was a nice beer. A bit darker than the average wheat beer and a bit lighter than the average dark beer. As with all Church Brew works beers this was good.

my first taste of a dunkelweizen. a very nice dark wheat with moderate carbonation. the malts are a nice complement to the light yeast flavor. i just had a brief taste but this is a really nice flavorful beer. i’ll have to rerate when i’ve had a proper glass.
