Rich, winey, plummy aroma with lots of raisin...very nice! Flavor is also winey and malty but with more noticeable roasted coffee and dark chocolate particularly on the finish. Smooth and full bodied palate. Alcohol is well hidden. Outstanding Imperial Stout!

Midnight black, with a dark tan head. Huge flavor of whiskey aged oak, with lots of chocolate and sweet malts. Good beer from them, they are starting to get on quite the whiskey aged kick right now. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2009 This was probably the best beer I’ve had from them. Aroma was nice. Strong roasted malt, black licorice with a hint of chocolate. Pour was perfect. Deep dark black with a thick and pillowy dark tan head. One of the best appearances I’ve ever seen. Taste was great also. Strong chocolate and burnt licorice but with a chocolatey aftertaste. This beer tastes like some of the big brewer’s EXCEPT for this off metallic aftertaste. It wasn’t strong enough to ruin the beer, but it hurt the score. Very nice. Beerman6686 (1287), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
