Commercial Description:
The brewers of Bavaria, Germany, typically brewed a special beer for the annual Oktoberfest celebration. The style which evolved for such an occasion is appropriately called an Oktoberfest. You might also hear this beer referred to as a Märzen. That’s because this beer was traditionally brewed in March (‘Marz’ in German) and lagered in caves until September. Because we now enjoy the convenience of refrigeration, we can lager the beer in a much shorter amount of time. Our Oktoberfest is a light amber colored beer. It is malty in both flavor and aroma making it a delicate beer which is very drinkable. The hop bitterness is kept low to accentuate the maltiness. Notice the crisp clean character and enjoy. We brewed three batches of this beer so that we can bottle some of it in order to enhance our bottle beer selection. 14°

Draught at the Church. Very nice pale copper color with minimal head. The aroma is light and malty. Flavor is very nicely balanced, smooth, nutty. Light palate. Clean finish. I do not generally like Marzen style that much, but I liked this one.

Tap @ brewpub: Clear amber color with no head. It has a toasted malt aroma with weak flavors and a thin and watery finish. Uggh.

This one poured a clear orange color with an off white head. Aroma was malty, bready, and sweet. Flavor was bready mainly, a bit grassy hops and slighlty sweet. Not too great.

Draught at BrewPub: Faint aroma of malts and nuts. Poured amber/slight copper in color with a small, off-white head that lasted around the edges. Clear. Not sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of light malts and a hint of brown sugar. Light to medium body. Thin, dry, chalky texture. Soft carbonation. Dry malt finish.

Bottle... Crystal clear amber lager with orange highlights and a small, frothy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is a malty, toasty, nutty swirl of caramel, toffee and praline. Disguised, but not completely hidden, is an unfortunate medicinal note. Medium-bodied with a slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Pretty well-balanced, but it does lean on the sweet side – as a Märzen should. Caramel and peppery hops. Toasty, sweet finish.

Pours a clear orange color with slight foamy white head. Aroma is very sweet, but plain. Flavor tastes a bit flat and plain, watery, slight malty nutiness. Overall I wasn’t a fan. Way too plain. My friend from Denmark tried it too and said it sucked.

Good clean beery aroma with a slight hint of yeast. Ubiquitous color with a thin tea froth head. Below average carbonation. A mild attack of slight bitterness, typical of the style and a little more bitterness than I expected. Has some background hints of hay. Typical fest flavors and the finish leaves you with a medium lingering industrial bitter palate.
