Commercial Description:
The B-20 is our new specialty #3. It was brewed using a combination of 14 spices, malts, and hops from countries representing the G20 countries. It was brewed in the style of a English brown ale and spiced at various points of the brewing process. In the nose you will pick up overtones of pumpkin and spice as well as jackfruit. The beer is malty and full of rich chocolate overtones up front. In the finish you will pick up the spices we used in the process (see list below). The hop bil was kept low so that the bitterness didn’t overpower the spices. Spices: Argentina - Cascade Hops Australia - Crystalized Ginger Canada - Pale Malt China - Cracked Ginger # 1 France - Strisselspalt Hops Germany - Perle Hops and Specialty Malt Japan - Ginger Infused Tea Leaves Indonesia - Jackfruit India - Charnushka Mexico - Ceylon Cinnamon Sticks Russia - Buckwheat United Kingdom - East Kent Golden Hops United States - Chinook Hops and Pumpkin

10/12/2009: Church Brew Works B-20 (Spiced English Brown Ale)... Aroma: Roasty with hints of coffee; very herbal; some holidy spices. Appearance: Mahogany/reddish-brown; small beige crown; thin lacing marks. Flavor: Notes of spiced red wine; ginger; lots of leafy hers; rosemary; slightly roasty; delicate sweet maltiness; earthy and herbal; caramelized golden raisin flavor and sweetness in the finish. Palate: Medium-full body; smooth and mellow; filling. Overall: VERY interesting beer; tasty!

Draught ( 20.5° P, 2.5 IBU, 7.5% ABV) at The Church Brew Works in Pittsburgh, PA. Rating #2 for this beer.

Tap @ Brew pub: Brown color with a malty/celery/vegetable flavors, maybe even a wee bit o’ pumpkin. Super mild aftertaste. It’s ok, but pretty sub-par. Cool idea, but failed to his this one out of the park.
