Clear reddish to prune colour. Fine nitro-like head. Red liquorice and coffee nose make for a rather weird and sugary blend. The cherry undertones afterwards appear fitting in this would be stout. Smooth and creamy body. In the end, the softness of the roast and general lightness paired with the accentuated fruits make it feel more like a mild.

A Mes rate: Cask @ PBF. More like a porter than a stout. Bit too mello in the nose. Nothing much going on, like something much paler. Good stouty looks with a ton of lace. Creamy milk chocolate in the mouth. Lots of malt. Almost like a Horlicks. Fruity finish.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Merchants Inn, Rugby. A black beer with off-white wisps of head and lace. The aroma is heavy on the coffee with roasty malts and a bit of smoke. Same in the taste. Quite sweet/smoky. Decent.

Cask in 3 Judges. Aroma is roasty black malt, hints of sweet chocolate but not enough to make it great. Taste is quite thin, again the roastyness is the main character, but a sweetness is tryign to come though.

Cask, Melton Fest 07. Very dark brown with red and a small head. Aromas are toffee and chocolate malts with mollasses and a light roast, smoky character. Flavours are roast malts with sweet caramel and mollasses. Dry on the finish. OK.
