A deep red beer with a slight haze under a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with primery notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of burnt malt and smoke, leading to a dry end.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Clear mahogany with a reddish hue and a beige head. Lightly burned, ashy nose. Medium body with both burned and smoked accents. Dry and lightly hoppy finish. The smokiness is only discreet and pleasant. 161206

Light brown; with 10% peated malt, this is a little unbalanced, in a Laphroaig kind of way, with big burning embers and underlying malts that fight to sustain the beer. If you've already numbed your palate a little bit, this is nice stuff, but could be a little overpowering otherwise.

Dark brown beer with a thin dark brown head. Massive smoky aroma which tastes like hickory and mesquite, not the usual beechwood. Flavour is much more subdued than the aroma, showing loads of sweet fruit, blackberry, cherry, plum, and brown sugar. Sweet and full bodied. Creamy texture. Great stuff.

On tap - BeerBistro Toronto. Wonderful black beer with good smokiness and roastiness. Seems to be a smoked porter which is fast becoming one of my favourite styles. Very good drinkable beer.

Nice smokey nose, good mouthfeel, almost like Bamberg malt (Schenkerla) with spome acidic points, nice bitterness in the end, nice balance...much more interesting than Northumberland
