Nov 12, 2002 Copper color. Ashey/smokey aroma with notes of wood and malt. Body is thin with good smokey flavors and sweet malt. Finish is lightly hoppy. An average example, but nice work by this brewery to try something new.

Aug 15, 2004 Deep brown in color, thinner tan head. Malty, with hints of smoke. There are regular Scotch ales out there with as much of a smoke prescence in an unintentional way. However, the smoke is a nice element and the lack of a big smoky slab of bacon in this beer does not detract. Somewhat light. Not bad though.

Nov 10, 2006 bottle, from trade with radiomg. Ok aroma sweet & smokey. Smokey, peaty, and a egg/meaty thing I’m never fond of. Clean orangy brown color, ok head that quickly faded to a ring, then nothing. No lace. Bittersweet flavor, like aroma, but more smoke and that eggy/meaty again. Sweet maltiness. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, dry finish. I’ve had a couple other brews that have had this what I call eggy/meaty thing and I just don’t like it, oh well. thanks radiomg.

Oct 19, 2002 pours dark brown with a tight off white head. smoky aroma. more smoke and some nice burnt flavours. a little thin. overall pretty good.
