Growler: Pours a ruby brown with no real head. Aroma is campfire smoke, chocolate malt tones. Body was very soft and flat. Very low carbonation... Flavour had some good smokiness with some light coffee tones and caramel/chocolate maltiness.

Pours a dark brown with a thin white ring of foam. Aroma is very meaty, smoky and savoury. Add to this the sweetness of the malt, and the taste is not unlike a sweet cured ham, pineapple, cloves and all. Good carbonation, body is rather chewy for the style - not bad! Probably one of the more quaffable beers of this style. Thanks to Robin for the trade!

Has the smokiness with the malt and the sourness that yoiu would want. The aromas seem to hit a bit more of the old cheese standard.

Pint at Volo - this is smooth and tasty! Just a hint of smoked whiskey malt character that underlines the sweetness and soft fine hops. Good stuff, don’t be afraid of this one.

341 mL bottle, found in the back of the fridge. Deep, dark mahogany brown with a small tan head that fades to a ring. Aroma of sweet malt and smoke. The same can be said of the taste, with the addition of a little green apple and licorice. The smoke is nice, not overwhelming. Medium body and carbonation. Great in barbeque sauce.

Roasty, toasty, but lacking the mealy character I was hoping for. Decent head but the body was flat. Light caramel notes and a bit of soy sauce, cola, charcoal -- anything black. A bit of a nasty finish.

Tasted at TFOB. Brown colour. Slight head in the glass. Aroma of smoked meat - pork scent especially. Taste of slightly smoked wood.
