Potent grapefruit aroma with some caramel and a hint of butterscotch/diacetyl. Clear (colour missing from notes) with a lasting, thin white ring. Quite bitter up front and sort of salty from the hops with moderate caramel and subtle toast accents. The bitterness lasts and the citrus flavour is only in the background. Light body, quite bitter in the finish, moderate carbonation. Trev (884), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA

Fruity, slightly yeasty aroma.
flavour is a slightly funky fruity thing, medium biscuity malt and some floral and citrus hop in the finish., RaphaelN (195), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 1, 2009 On tap at Volo. Bitter unbalanced IPA. A good IPA is a difficult feat to accomplish. The balance between the bitter and flowery sweet profile is not easy to accomplish. Churchkey did not meet that threshold. Thin body, some sweetness,. But the powerful hop bitterness overrules this brew. garthicus (1308), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

This one is hazy golden yellow: has a thin head with big, fairly transparent bubbles. The aroma is grassy with some citrus in the hops. Light mouthfeel. I taste pine, grass and a bitter pine finish. matt7215 (980), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Golden-beige colour. Earthy, herbal, slightly spicy hop nose with a caramel base. Some woody hop, but quite a bit of diacetyl as well. Not nearly aromatic enough for the "west coast" moniker, and rather malt-accented for the style in general. Worse, though, is that the malts aren’t that good, there’s too much diacetyl and nothing comes together.
