Expensive as hell, but I figured my trip to Montreal was the only chance I’ll ever have to get it. Smells like very fresh apples and some expected alcohol. Texture is syrupy and thick. This was certianly very good and had a great fresh apple taste, but I just didn’t like the alcohol flavor. Its not that I don’t like alcohol flavor or anything, i love strong beers and drink straight bourbon all the time. But, the syrupy texture with the huge alcohol flavor just didn’t agree with me. So, while I really appriciate they great fresh apple flavor, I just didn’t like the whole package. Almost tasted like apple cider mixed with vodka. So, I most certainly respect the this and understand the quality, but it just isnt for me.

Beautiful sticky legs stream down into a golden pool. No effervescence. Bright aroma of fresh Jonathan and Golden Delicious apples. Very small amount of alcohol in nose, slight burn at first. Initial tartness quickly turns mellow. Didn’t get any tannins; very little acidity. The very essence of an apple in its purest form.

Huge thanks to tiggmtl for getting this to me to sample! This pushes the limits of cider, straying into the world of liquor with its flavor and richness. Deep amber, still, nice legs. Consumed in a Riedel Sauvignon Blanc "O" glass, for those who obsess about such things. Aroma was distinctly of the flavorful apples of my youth, pippins, winesaps, and crabapples. This mixed in with the faintest smoky note. The initial flavor was that of homemade applesauce, no cinnamon, thank you very much. As it warmed, smoke emerged very briefly, replaced by a faint oak note, and ultimately some honey character. This is good stuff, about as far as you can take cider. I admittedly had to overcome the applesauce connections that immediately sprang to mind, but truly enjoyed it overall. Almost picked this one for #900, and it would have been worthy.

In trade with Rastacouere.Clear copper in color.Aromas are heavy in apple and alcohol.Almost like some apple cordial. This is an awesome tasting cider.Christ,I never though I would catch myself saying that.Oily on the glass.flavors are much more than just the apple I expected.More like a fresh pear tossed in there to.

Bottle... This cider rocks!... As David stated, this is the Apis Jadwiga of ciders. Crystal clear, light gold with notes of white wine, plum, overripe apple and green apple in the nose. The flavor is very mead-like. Lots of red and green apple, honey and plum. Moderately sweet and lightly tart. Quite alcoholic, but not overpowering. Full-bodied with an oily/syrupy mouthfeel and just a whisper of carbonation. Lengthy, sweet and tart, then moderately dry finish. World class stuff. Thanks for the sample, David!

Golden apple juice colour. Outstanding aroma of fresh apples and buttery whiskey. Rich, syrupy body. Explosive apple flavour with some hints of cinnamon and clove. This stuff blew my mind! [Toronto Christmas Party ’04]
