| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 13, 2009 Bottle shared by Daknole at 2009 DLD: Nearly opaque with a fading head and minimal lace. The aroma is smoked meats and pipe tobacco. Some notes of toffee and plum, grassy and earthy yeast esters as well. The taste is smoke driven for sure, the sweeter malts are detected but it afterthought. Woody and earthy throughout with almost no hop bitterness. The mouth feel is ashy and dry. Not too shabby, I would like to try more to get a better feeling about this brew from Joey and the guys at Cigar City. dchmela (1458), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2009 Recently found tasting note from a while back. Pours a fairly dense reddish brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma is earthy caramel malt and peat mixture that came off as "new tennis balls". Taste is big smoky malt with dark fruit notes and caramel. Really interesting. Oakes (8115), Kowloon, Hong Kong

Thanks to Mike/Brad for sharing my first experience with Cigar City. They’ve gotten a lot of buzz around the site and if this is any indication it is worthwhile. If you have spare bottles send them my way and they’ll be gone soon enough.
Aroma / Appearance - The fluid black body and light sheen of lacing lend presence to a solid beer. Liquid smoke, cigar butts, and ash give the bulk of the smokiness which in sum smells much like warm bacon. More meaty than smoky it makes me want to seek out more of the style.
Flavor / Palate - Smoke fills the mouth like inhaling a cloud of firewood. Light chocolate notes gave more depth before a malty finish that marks a satisfying experience. Fluid and solid this does not taste like 11% at all. cgarvieuk (4212), Edinburgh, Scotland
