Bottled. Buttery bourbon, sweet corn and coal aroma. Balance, tasty, roasty body, more coal and dirt, a little bit of chalk. Some milkiness and tar are present. Surprisingly easy drinking and much more mellow than the unaged version, the barrel treatment has done this one well.

( 750ml, 2009 vintage, batch #2, bottle 399/449, courtesy of ericandersnavy ) Pours an opaque black body with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and oak. Flavor of chocolate, oak, cedar, and roasted malt.

There is a plethora of savory aroma from vague hints of sweet malts to brandy. It has a perfect dark color and small head that never stopped. The flavors were delicate as this potent brew ran over your mouth and tongue like pure silk. Phenomenal classy brew.

750ml bottle @Pauls Gathering-pours a brown ring for a head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-rich/molasses, secondary acidic hops. Taste is big, dark malt-rich/molasses, secondary acidic hops. Full body.

Courtesy of ericandersnavy. Black color with a brown head. Big blackened malt aromas with tobacco leaf. Rich smooth mouthfeel. Flavor dominated by blackened bitter malts with astringent tobacco, with mild vanilla and wood. a bit over the top.

First, thanks to Dakine for shipping this one out to me. Suprised my brother with this on his 44th birthday and shared it with several beer geeks, although I’m the only one who rates here. With that being said, this was a mind-blowing, tongue-exploding, sensory-overload impy stout if there ever is one. This one belongs up there in the stratosphere with other world-class imperial stouts (KtG, Darkness, etc).

Batch #2 2009, bottle #259. After cutting away the wax, popping the top the beer just glugged out of the bottle. An obvious thick consistency, black as black can be, and billowing from the body of this beast was a thick, creamy brown head that seemed like it was on Viagra it lasted so long. Tons and tons of chocolate and roasted goodness permeates my surroundings. Huge notes of molasses, vanilla, smoke and bourbon punch it’s way thru the chocolate and coffee and join the party in my nose. First sip....pure, unadulterated, bliss. Like eating a mouthful of dark chocolate coated coffee beans and then chasing it with a sip of bourbon. Everything just coats the inside of my mouth like a blanket of loving goodness. Light smokey notes, a bit of wood, finishes wonderfully and leaves my mouth longing for the next sip. Just insane how good this is.

Bottle from 5 Points. Sampled on Thanksgiving. The perfect brew. Oak, awesome imp stout, and hints of bourbon. Similar to Firestone 12. Excellent.

Bottle from Kingdom Liquors. Poured a black color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Heavy roasted coffee, earthy hop and chocolate aroma. Heavy dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration with a small alcohol burn as it warms. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout top 20 beer.
