| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 7, 2009 750mL bottle, no date--though from 2009--from daknole--thank you much! Clear dark brown with a small light brown head, decent retention. Caramel and bready toasted malts up front in the aroma, with some light roast and vanilla behind. Not picking up on any peat thus far, but I know it isn’t necessary, and this beer is just fine without it. Flavor has a little more roasted malts to it, though still plenty of the caramel and toasted malts to go around. Some warming notes hint to the alcohol strength in the dry roasty finish, bitterness around a 2. Full body with light to moderate creamy carbonation. Excellent Scotch ale. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2009 750mL Bottle. Nice, deep caramel and toast malt. Burnt sugars, raisins, and creme. Wondeful malt profile. Pours a beautiful dark brown and red, with a creamy off-white. Flavors are good. There’s concentrated burnt sugars to the point that amines pile up into a near ureaic character, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Almost a bit of smoke edge. Wonderfully malted, not too alcholic, and not too sticky. Very nice Scotch. smith4498 (902), Miami, Florida, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 27, 2009 750ml bottle: Pours a transparent dark amber mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of rich, sweet dark caramel malts with a touch of smoky peat and dark chocolate. Starts with good fullness and light carbonation along with lots of dense, sweet caramel toffee and some raisin dark fruity complexity. Finishes semi-sweet with some mild bitterness and a touch of milk chocolate. Very true to style and enjoyable. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
