Commercial Description:
Big Sound Scotch Ale is dedicated to our good buddy Gino, the most punk rock bagpiper you’ll ever meet, and the rest of the men and women of Tampa Bay Pipes and Drums. Brown in color, Big Sound has huge notes of dark sweet toffee with underlying mild notes of coffee in the aroma. The flavor starts with a slight note of cherry and then opens into a Goliath of a malt character with notes of dark sweet toffee, slight hints of coffee and mild notes of toasted bread in the finish. Big Sound Scotch Ale pairs well with Haggis, Highland Games, Huge Heads and Enormous Pillows and of course Bagpipe music.

Fine mouth feel - sweet and sour, lots of burned sugar. Mellow malt. It looks like it could do with a hops injection.

Thanks to Markwise for the bottle! Dark brown pour with a slight haze. Fluffy tan head and rings of lace. Light coffee, toast, and woody notes. Finish is dominated by dark fruit, caramel, and big toffee notes. Not quite as peaty or as earthy as I would have liked for the style.

Huge thanks to pepsican, badbeer, and iowaherkeye. Definitely CC-same yeast strain characteristics for sure-muted must. I guess it’s mostly a scotch ale. Some nice wood. Nice carbonation. Nutty. Fairly sweet.

Bottle: Thanks to TampaBrew for this...pours a dark brown with a small tan head. Nose is massive with notes of toffee, cherries, pipe tobacco and brown sugar. The thing that really sets this apart is the fullness of the body...flavors are big on the toffee and caramel malts with some dark fruits complimenting the maltiness. Great brew!

Thanks Josh. Pours clear brown with just a touch of tan head. Both the nose and flavor seem to feature a dry malty toffee character with an underlying smokiness. There’s a nice dry toasted finish.

Thanks to TampaBrew for this beer. Smooth and malty with a lot of subtle flavors, it’s best to let this one open up a bit before drinking it. Very nice brew.

750 ml bottle shared at PilsnerPeter’s Spring Gathering. Pours a very dark brown with a bubbly, luscious brown head. Very pleasant aroma of brown sugar, sweet malt, and peat. The flavor is malty with less brown sugar than the aroma along with a bit of peat. Fairly smooth on the palate.
