Commercial Description:
Big Sound Scotch Ale is dedicated to our good buddy Gino, the most punk rock bagpiper you’ll ever meet, and the rest of the men and women of Tampa Bay Pipes and Drums. Brown in color, Big Sound has huge notes of dark sweet toffee with underlying mild notes of coffee in the aroma. The flavor starts with a slight note of cherry and then opens into a Goliath of a malt character with notes of dark sweet toffee, slight hints of coffee and mild notes of toasted bread in the finish. Big Sound Scotch Ale pairs well with Haggis, Highland Games, Huge Heads and Enormous Pillows and of course Bagpipe music.

Thanks Josh. Pours clear brown with just a touch of tan head. Both the nose and flavor seem to feature a dry malty toffee character with an underlying smokiness. There’s a nice dry toasted finish.

Thanks to TampaBrew for this beer. Smooth and malty with a lot of subtle flavors, it’s best to let this one open up a bit before drinking it. Very nice brew.

750 ml bottle shared at PilsnerPeter’s Spring Gathering. Pours a very dark brown with a bubbly, luscious brown head. Very pleasant aroma of brown sugar, sweet malt, and peat. The flavor is malty with less brown sugar than the aroma along with a bit of peat. Fairly smooth on the palate.

Bottle at PilsnerPeter’s Spring Gathering. Poursa hazy brown with a thin beige head. Touch of alcohol, but not overly distracting. Nice roast malt notes, and caramel. Smooth and malty, and finishing with a light bitter. Very tasty.

750 ml. Reddish brown pour with a thick tan head. Big smoky malt, peaty and earthy aroma. Sweet malt, cherry, coffee and roasted grain taste. Very complex ale, but the flavors all blend and compliment nicely. Letting it warm up a touch really lets the flavors explode. Really good.

Bottle at PPRBSG09. Pours a murky brown. Aroma of diacetyl and sweet malt. Flavor of roasted malt and sweet caramel malt. Ok for a scotch ale (admittedly not my favorite style). 6/4/7/4/14 (3.5/5)

Best thing about this is the flavor and palate. Nice and smooth/thick mouthfeel. Tons of dark fruity flavors mixed in with some vanilla. Never really seems cloying. Palate is amazingly clean.
