Commercial Description:
Big Sound Scotch Ale is dedicated to our good buddy Gino, the most punk rock bagpiper you’ll ever meet, and the rest of the men and women of Tampa Bay Pipes and Drums. Brown in color, Big Sound has huge notes of dark sweet toffee with underlying mild notes of coffee in the aroma. The flavor starts with a slight note of cherry and then opens into a Goliath of a malt character with notes of dark sweet toffee, slight hints of coffee and mild notes of toasted bread in the finish. Big Sound Scotch Ale pairs well with Haggis, Highland Games, Huge Heads and Enormous Pillows and of course Bagpipe music.

Shared by Shyam - thank you sir. A perfectly average Scotch ale. Nose is slight peat, very thickly caramel malt, Flavor is the same - brown apple, brown sugar, less malt. I just described a competent, standard Scotch ale. That’s what this is.

Sampled during RBSG 7/11/2009 at the Grand Tasting. This scotch ale pours a medium brown color from the bottle. Medium sized beige foamy head. Aroma is caramel, sweet, peaty and nutty. A medium bodied scotch ale. The malts are caramel and sweet, with a touch of peat. The hops are earthy. Nice balance. A touch sweet. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

750ml bottle thanks to hopscotch! pours a very deep brown with a nice thick light tan head... nice lively carbonation on a swirl... sweet sharp malt aromas with some apple and a touch of coffee.. medium to light body... feels a bit thin on the bottom of the mouth, while up front it carries most of the flavors and feeling... some light hidden cherry notes are surrounded by big sweet malts with toffee and almost sour fruit. really nice blend... this finishes well with all of the above culminating nicely.... while leaving a bit of spice...

A little roasted malt on the aroma. A bit of cherry as advertised and a sweet malty finish. Roasted finish.

Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pretty ruby pour. Lovely sweet malt aroma. A bit heavy. Some chocolate feel with a heavier feel. Pretty tasty scotch that finishes easy.
