Commercial Description:
Bolita was a type of lottery popular with the working class citizens of the Ybor City district of Tampa. Bolita means, ’little ball’ but profits from the illegal (and often rigged) game were anything but little. In the 1920’s Tampa native Charlie Wall was the undisputed kingpin of the Bolita racket.

Our Bolita is a Double Northern English-style brown ale that has a complex malt forward character with notes of chocolate, toffee and hints of roasted nuts in the finish. Bolita pairs well with Baklava, Big Band Music, Cool Evenings and robust cigars.

Bottle Thanks to my man snoop doggy Douglas88. Pours out a dark brown topped with a sand head. Aroma is of dark chocolate, nuttiness, and rich malts. Taste was more of the roast malts, sweetness, some smoke maybe cigar ash??? Maybe not. A tasty treat right before the BB version.

Bottle I picked up at Capone’s. We have been waiting for Cigar City. Poured a dark chestnut brown with a nice head, faded at a moderate pace. Nose has little malt and hops but a clean fresh smell. First sip is full of roasted brown malt almost stout like hints of caramel and coffee also permeate. Hops finish is just right. Terrifc brown ale.

Bottle - thanks changeup415. Nice dark leathery brown color with a finger of creamy tan head. Nose of roasted malt, light coffee, and an undeterminable spice that gives it a kind of lively sweetness. A smooth, rich blend of caramel, roasted malt, mocha, and toffee. Maybe even a little hazlenut. Lingering finish is dry and lightly bitter, full of roast and mocha. Well balanced overall. A rich and full flavored brown ale... nice.

bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. had this at the Houston RB Tasting in October. Pours a dark brown with a thin, tan head. Nose is of roast malt and smoke. Taste is of roast malt, smoke and tobacco. Mouthfeel is medium with lots of carbonation. Interesting.

Pours a mahognay brown color, with a huge, frothy, fluffy tan head. Great looking. Smellsd of a mixture of roasted malt, dark fruits, hops, a hint of toffee. The flavor had a lot of sweetness to it, with traces of raisins and dark fruits to go along with the roasted malt and nuts. The finish had traces of hop bitterness and cinnamon combined. Really nice mix of flavors and quite interetsing. Very tasty.

Served from a bottle while in Tampa,on the final stop of the honeymoon cruise. The appearance is a bubbling deep nut brown with a disappearing light brown head. The aromas and flavors are Rich malts with chocolate, toffee, and nutshells. Hints of perfume creep up at times. Thank goodness for a quality brew finally!!!

like the regular brown ale but bigger, fuller and more delicous. I love the bigger palate and the additional chocolate notes. Another great cigar city beer.
