| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 17, 2009 750 mL bottle courtesy of Austin (thanks alot!). Dark brown pour with an off-white head. Smoke dominates the aroma with some roasted malts as well. Thick bodied and creamy, this is one smoky beer. Also some chocolate malt flavors can be detected. The label would lead you to believe this is a brown ale but it really is not. This site lists this as an American Strong Ale which is really pretty vague. But at least it isn’t listed as a brown ale. What it really is is delicious. Cigar City does it again. SudsMcDuff (1695), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 16, 2009 750ml Bottle with big thanks to JMFG! Pours a medium brown with not much of a head. Nose is some caramel, nuts and a hint of earth. Flavor is wonderful! Some not so subdued notes of nuts, a hint of toffee, and maybe....just maybe a background of mild coffee. It seems to sweeten up a bit from the time it hits the lips until the time it travels down to the belly. As this warms up a bit any subdued flavors really start to pull through. I start to notice a hint of chocolate...maybe a bit of ash as well. Very solid beer. gottalottaibu (243), charlotte, North Carolina, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2009 Bottle from TheCheeseman. Dark brown pour, medium carbonation and rich chocolate and malt aroma. Flavor is roasted malts, a little bit of brown sugar and again some chocolate and vanilla. Slightly woody/smoky finish and very mellow for being a 9% ABV brew. I’m really starting to think cigar city cannot make a bad beer. douglas88 (1626), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2009 750 ml bottle thanks to Dave. Pours a cloudy brown color with a large white head. The aroma is smooth chocolates, toasted malts, nutty and warm. The flavor is very quaffable in complete disagreement with the ABV; rich toasted malts, nuts, chocolate and a great smooth mouthfeel. Nice.
