bhensonb (4234), Woodland, California, USA Nov 16, 2009 Bottle #322 of 450 from ericandersnavy. No way I can adequately thank you, but I’ll make an effort. Pours opaque black with a three finger dark tan head. Aroma is dark malt, lightlly sour dark fruit, and chocolate. Medium body with frothy, creamy carbonation. Flavor is espresso, chocolate, dark malt, wood, sourish cherry. There is no heat. But my bod says there’s alcohol. Finishes suggestive of chocolate cherry. Bitter dark chocolate. But incredibly smooth. Very pleasing. This is the beer for breakfast. bleeng (592), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Nov 15, 2009 Bottle 259 thanks to daknole. Black and opaque with a small tan head. Nose is chocolately, whiskey, malty, and sweet. Taste is very alcoholic, oaky/whiskey, l, and sweet. Very strong beer. Sticky, full, fluffy body. Delicious flavors and surprisingly easy to drink considering the hugeness of this beer. TomDecapolis (3148), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 14, 2009 Thanks to josh for opening this one up, such a treat. Pours a hazy deep brown with a smaller bubbly tan head. Aroma of tart cherries, vanilla, tobacco, toasted malt, dark fruits, bourbon is very light, dang hop notes and pine. Flavor..wow...so much going on here. Tart cherry, vanilla, toasted malt, so complex, oak, light bourbon, tobacco, chestnuts. This had charred barrel particles as floaties...nice. Teege (75), Orlando, Florida, USA Nov 12, 2009 Thanks to Solan. Pours thick and opaque with a thin but nice dark brown head. Lots of bourbon in the nose complimented with strong notes of dark malts. wavers1 (129), novato, California, USA Nov 6, 2009 bottle #443 courtesy of daknole, thanks! pours a thick brown, lightly transparent, with a minimal light brown head that fades quickly but leaves some lacing. smell is nice, a sweet butterscotch, lots of toastiness, bits of char and tar. taste has a lot of nice butter, tarry resin, smoky toasty malts, bitter licorice and of course some great whiskey notes. palate is nice, medium creamyness up front, good carb throughout. another great, unique offering from cigar city. Palidor19 (1760), Brandon, Florida, USA Oct 31, 2009 great stuff, looks like a dream with the little bit of oak chips floating in the beer. the aroma is slightly of dates and raisins. the taste is malty with a touch of astringent bitterness at the end. a true solid beer
