bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2009 Draft at Cigar City. The description is very accurate. The smell is very rich coconut and espresso. The taste is very sweet and malty, and the chocolate and caramel assemble "Voltron Style" to launch an all out anime battle on your taste buds and your liver. Friggin Awesome. juiceisloose (661), Windermere, Florida, USA Aug 9, 2009 Draft at Cigar City for the release party. Pours a clear and dark chestnut brown color topped by a small, foamy beige colored head. A small amount of lace is left behind on the glass. The aroma is really nice on this one with the cuban espresso beans up front followed by chocolate, toasted hazelnuts, and a hint of coconut. The typical malt complexity from Bolita is there as well. The flavor follows with the chocolate and caramel malt sweetness to go with the espresso roast and some toasted coconut. The cocoa and espresso really blend in nicely with the Bolita malt complexity. The toasted coconut comes out more as the beer warms up and adds another layer to this beer. Really tasty stuff. Full bodied and silky smooth and incredibly easy to drink. The cocoa and espresso linger on the finish. Another outstanding brown ale from CCB. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Aug 5, 2009 Draft at CCB. By far my favorite treatment beer. Nose is huge coconut and a little dark chocolate with complex toasted malts and caramel. Flavor is light coconut up front. That old familiar malt complexity of the bolita and finishes with a spicy bit of cocoa. Awesomely integrated. This is just outstanding. Really great work Wayne! markwise (1175), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Aug 3, 2009 On draft at CCB BB Big Sound Release. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Nose is roasted coffee, nut, roast, chocolate, and some earthy elements. Flavor is about the same with noticable cacao (more so than its Maduro sister) and chocolate flavor with nuts, coffee, and some barely noticeable coconut once it warmed. Enjoyable beer. Ibrew2or3 (2724), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Aug 2, 2009 Draft at CCB BA Big Sound release party. It pours dark brown with lasting tan head. The aroma is largely dark roasted coffee then moving into Bolita malty rich roastiness, staying clear of highly roasted, and some nuttiness. There is a faint sense of cacao in the aroma and if I didn’t’ already know it was there I wouldn’t have noticed. The taste at first seems very much like the regular Bolita with thick rich tasty sweet malt, roast and nutty notes. Behind that are pleasing layers of cacao and Navarro deep dark roasted coffee beans and the associated chicory goodness. Plenty tasty. Beerlando (2305), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 2, 2009 Draft at Cigar City during the Bourbon Barrel Big Sound release. Pours mostly clear with a very slight haze, dark chestnut brown in color. A small, foamy, beige colored blanket leaves minimal spotting on the glass. The aroma lives up to its name, massively chocolaty from the cocoa nibs, with a hefty serving of coffee roast and tons of toasted hazelnut. Flavors follow suit, rich and warm, intensely nutty and chocolaty at the same time, and also beautifully robust with biting espresso. Delicious. Like all versions of Bolita, the palate is smooth and velvety, big bodied, yet easy to drink. Another absolutely top notch brown ale from Cigar City. djtimeless (170), Florida, USA Aug 2, 2009 Had @ Fri CCB bottle release party. On tap, poured out black with brown head. Smells like coffee. Taste is chocolate, coffee, and a nice nuttty flavor. Thick and rich. Another tastey brew from CCB. daknole (2879), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 1, 2009 Tap at CCB. Brown pour. The coffee is the star in the aroma and the flavor. The coconut adds a bit to the aroma along with some caramel and chocolate notes. Flavor has a ton of espresso beans, light cocoa notes and some toasted malt. This one is very very nice. Wayne and Joey know what they are doing with coffee and beer!!
