Growler shared by goldtwins - having had the base beer for this a few weeks ago, I can say that the espresso doesn’t really help this beer - the aroma is kind of taken over by the coffee, and it smells either burnt or of poor quality - the bitterness is amplified in the flavor by the presence of the coffee as well, and it adds a charred character - the smooth vanilla and roasted nuts from the original beer come through, but not until the finish - most of the beer just tastes like burnt coffee - I love coffee beer, but apparently they are hard to get right.

Another badass beer from Cigar City. The espresso jumps out of the glass and makes its presence known. Great espresso notes. Alos nuts and caramel are present. Flavor has just an amazing delicious does of strong espresso. Damn this is a fine beer. All the elements combine to make a haromonious beer!

Growler: Pours a transparent amber mahogany with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel malt and lots of fresh espresso and a touch of dark chocolate. Starts with good malty fullness and some toasty caramel toffee sweetness alongside lots of roasted coffee beans before a crisp, well-balanced, drier finish. This has an enjoyable coffee character that meshes well with this underlying brown ale.

Another awesome growler thanks to Ibrew2or3. Pours a deep amber/brown color with a very large off-white head. The aroma, wow this is a huge coffee beer! Rich coffee, malts and caramel. The flavor is rich and aggressive; just tons of coffee in here, sweet and bitter coffee beans, milky coffee mixed with caramel malts and light toasted flavors. So very different than the vanilla aged version it is hard to believe they are the same base beer. Very nice.

32oz growler thanks to Hopscotch. Pours a clear amber dark brown with thin head that dissipates to larger bubbles ringing around the side, decent lacing. Aroma of fresh coffee smacks you in the face. Wake up Dave! Also greeted slightly with lightly roasted malt and almonds, caramel, and ever so slight vanilla. First taste, again, coffee dominates, but other flavors from the aroma are apparent. Mouthfeel is creamy to slick, carbonation is light, nutty dry taste left in my mouth with a bit of bitterness in the end. Overall pretty good.

Growler… This beer rocks!... Clear brown ale with a small, fat-bubbled, off-white head. Epresso beans, toasted nuts and chocolate really stand out in the aroma. Full-bodied and creamy with mild carbonation. Full-flavored with lots of espresso beans, toasted nuts and chocolate. Sweet, but sufficiently bittered for balance. Crisp, mocha finish. One of the few coffee beers I’ve tried that smells and tastes like actual espresso beans instead of spent coffee grounds. World class brown ale!

Growler from Cigar City shared at a BeerAdvocate event. Pours a clear copper-brown color with a tan head. Aroma is lots of espresso with some roast. Flavor is dominated by coffee with a little caramel malt, roast, chocolate, and nuts. Palate medium.

Growler: The aroma is loaded with espresso with some light chocolate. It pours a transparent mahogany with a large beige head that has good retention. The flavor starts with light chocolate. The finish has lots of espresso with some hints of vanilla and roastiness. Light-medium bodied with soft carbonation.
