Sweet aroma with a note of white pepper and a bit of an earthy husky spot. Poured an off orange color w/ a nice head. Full palate and a lightly fruity flavor that I have to guess is guava w/ some sweet breads as well.

Nose is yeasty and slightly funky with underlying fruit sweetness. Not sure I’d pin the nose as guava, more lemon and orange. Flavor is initially a nice tart sour yeastiness with a slight earthy funk and quite fizzy. Middle to finish brings the guava - really out there compared to the rest of the very belgian flavors. The sweetness cloys a little as it warms. Overall, this was really interesting. I really enjoyed the first glass, the rest left a little too much syrupy guava jelly flavors at the finish. A unique and really interesting brew, though. Thanks, Bryan. zizzybalubba (400), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA

Golden yellowish-orange pour with a fizzy white head. Tart lemon zest aroma that really overwhelms just about anything else. Surprisingly light beer. Tart orange flavor (although I suppose that’s really guava) with some spices that do resemble a saison. Really too tart to typify any particular style, but I suppose saison is the closest, and, to my knowledge, it doesn’t contain any wild yeast that makes this a sour. Still, this is very, very good. Aroma is ripe tropical fruit, lemon rind, and funk. Likewise, the flavor has earthy, horse blanket qualities accompanying the citrus. Ample carbonation that helps increase the drinkability. Interesting brew. ratman197 (3262), Arvada, Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2009 In short: A thick wild fruity saison with a sharp tartness. A bit too heavy (fruit purée) for the style but good nonetheless.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed fresh a few months after the beer release. Sent to me by Solan, thanks a lot Alan
The look: Cloudy golden blonde body (at first) turning into an ugly murky peach color (end of the bottle) body topped by a large off-white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is unmistakably Saison (very wild yeast character) with floral and strong fruity notes. The taste is very fruity. Not being familiar with guava I thought the beer was full of mangos, marmalade, kiwis and tropical fruits. I even got some avocados (!?). The fruitiness also comes with a light sourness. Lots of juicy floral hops that provide a mild bitterness. A light spiciness. Nice mouthfeel with a lively carbonation. Finish is semi-dry and also has a biting tartness. Overall the beer is very very sharp and the biting tartness makes it one to be enjoyed slowly. By the end of the bottle with all the yeast the beer turned into some kind of wild funky tropical fruity puree. This is pretty heavy for a Saison, I prefer my Saisons a bit easier to drink but this is a fun take on the style. A decent beer but just an average Saison. I’ve had many Cigar City brews and I’m not sure if I understand this brewery incontestable success. Or maybe I can’t appreciate something I have never experienced. blklab2007 (981), Connecticut, USA
