Commercial Description:
Guava Grove Ale is a Belgian ale that sees a secondary fermentation with and extended aging on Guava puree. The complex flavors imparted by both the Belgian yeast strain and the Guava are unlike anything you are likely to have encountered. This is an elegant beer that pairs well with white fish, mussels, fresh tropical fruits and earthy cheeses. It also makes a fine accompaniment to Guavaween festivities.

750mL bottle thanks to Kevin! Poured slightly hazy, healthy orange with a creamy, well-retained off-white head. The aroma picked up what must be the guava.. sour fruity character with a little oak and vinegar.. soft, bready character beneath.. balance was quite good. The flavor opened with tart fruits and oak, with bready and pale malts behind.. tart the whole way through, with bitterness from the fruit as well.. dusty, dry, spicy yeast had a great presence too.. tasty stuff! Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. spicy, tart, and engaging, with a great feel. This was good stuff!

bottle thanks to Daknole, pours hazy orange with a tall frothy white head. Sweet white grape, peach and yeast aroma. Soft hay and pale malt notes mix with candy sugar and peach. Tart grape and guava in the finish. High carbonation with a crisp mouth. Nice!

Bottle courtesy of fogdog in the perfect 10 trade. Dripping in guava, nice saison yeast aromas, little peppery and musky, with a faint hint of brett. Very lively carbonation, fresh cut guava, dry and again a little more bretty flavor. Crisp and clean. Really delicious.

750mL Bottle. Thanks so much Sean! I’m so grateful to have an opportunity to try this! Intense Brett-like awesome fruit aroma, with the guava showing really strongly in the backend of the nose. Minerals, a nip of sulfur, sweet cool papaya, lots of fresh guava juice, a good bit of peppercorn. It’s floral, fruit, spicy, glowing and amazing. Pours an intensely fuming glowing golden orange-peach, with a silky, lacing white head. The flavor speak Strongly of hay-like cottony Brett, with spiciness, a touch of ethyl acetate and then surprising bitterness. Some alcohols fume and the guava is kind of lost. A bit of sweetness gives a sense of orange-blossom honey. The brett is really dominant and generically spicy, edging bitter. Carbonation is explosive and refreshing. It’s hard to keep the flavor profile on the palate for too long. Extra-super-dry. The Brett character is nice. With guava being so noticeable in the nose, I was really hoping for a good dose in the flavor, but it didn’t come through. A little less carbonation and a little more residual sugar and this might ooze a denser flavor profile. In the end, a delicious, very fun beer.

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Like I can’t thank you enough. I love beer and I love guava. So: Pours peach with a hugely frothy white head. Aroma is sort of funky peach. Medium body with frothy carbonation. It’s funky. It’s fruity. Is it guava? Could be. Finishes very mildly sour and funky. Saison it is. Very so. Delicious. Underrated. Very.

Thanks Jason, the beer pouts to a hazy amber orange body with a fully lasting (entire life of beer) dense coating sheath of white head. The aroma is lightly fruity with a light vinegar/gueuze like thing going on. Some saison yeasts. The flavor is sweet and Guava-ish. Fruity but sour. Nice bread and funky yeast. Lots of unique spicing but more funk than spice. Medium body with a clean texture and tartness. Very nice.

Bottle, thanks to Dchmela! Pours cloudy amber or burnt orange with a huge rocky white head that keeps developing after I pour. 5 minutes later, I can actually sip the beer. Aroma of tangy fruit (not familiar with guava, so I can’t describe it very well), pears, grass, hay, a little caramel and earth, and a bit of brett but it’s on the fruity side rather than the "sweaty socks" side. Tastes immediately tangy and fruity with peary, I assume guava-esque flavors, earth, caramel, spice, and slight tinges of fruity brett. Finishes with more earth, toasty hops, and lingering drier fruit. The body has really strong carbonation at first, but once the head dies, it becomes really soft and creamy. High carbonation, medium body, very creamy and not heavy. The fruit qualities are definitely unique and the mix of fruit, earth, and SLIGHT amounts of brett/yeast works really well. Good!
