Nose is dominated by cedar with some note of cocoa, coffee, and roast. Medium body with a velvety mouthfeel. Flavor is spicy and malty, lots of cedar notes are present as well as come chocolate, toffee, coffee, and an overall nuttiness. I definitely picked up a lot more cedar in this than the Humidor Jai Alai. Finishes with mild bitterness. Good!

S: Standard bolita aroma up front. Nice roast with bold nuttiness. Strong notes of coffee and chocolate. The cedar is there though in a fairly big way. It comes off mildly earthy and a touch spicey.
T: Solid as well. Roasty and tasty up front with the flavors mentioned above coming out in taste. The cedar is there for sure. Woody and spicey.
M: Medium in body, great mouthfeel.

Nose is caramel, raisin and coffee. Cedar emerges adding spice. Creamy body with soft carb and a woody tang. The aroma is full with sweet nuttiness, a touch of chocolate and building notes of a cedar like twang. The taste begins with the classic Bolita creamy near velvety mouthfeel ushering in nutty and roasty malts. Like the nose the cedar joins in midway to go along with fading nuttiness and persistent roasty malts. Yum. Nose is heavy cedar, roasted nuts, and cocoa, slight coffeeish roast, and malt. Flavor is the same with the cedar blending beautifully and ends with a decrescendo of cedar out of sight. Very nice. However, I’m a little picky with it. I really enjoyed the Cedar IPA and the Cedar Imperial Stout. I’m not a huge fan of the Cedar Bolita, as of my first couple tastes. There’s just a little too much of the cedar in there and it overpowers the malts in the brown ale. Toned down just a bit, this would be great. Pours a dark chestnut brown color with a small, tan layer of foam that sits on top. Some tiny spots of lacing dot the glass. The aroma is really nice with the caramel and cocoa malt base to go with toasted nuts, and spicy, peppery cedar wood. The cedar just adds another level to the base beer. The flavor follows with the rich caramel and cocoa malts, some roast and toasted nuts, and the pepper spiced cedar. I love the spices that the cedar wood contributes. Full bodied and ultra smooth with nice carbonation leading to dry, peppery finish. The cedar wood makes a good base beer even better. The aroma is a malty, spicy blitz of caramel, mocha, tobacco and toasted nuts with more than insubstantial rumors of white and black pepper. Medium to full-bodied with modest carbonation. The flavor is malty and is mainly a reflection of the nose, but presents more of a bitter component than untreated Bolita. Possibly some of the residual sugar was filched by the cedar, but the tradeoff is welcomed as peppery essences resound in this version. The finish is moderately bitter, lightly tannic and then dry.
