Commercial Description:
The Humidor Series is a rotating offering of Cigar City Brewing beer aged on cedar. Cedar has a more subtle effect on beer than more traditional woods like oak. But, we think that once you taste it you’ll agree that cedar deserves a place alongside oak in the brewer’s wood-aging toolbox.

750ml bottle, with a big thanks to dchmela! Pours a cloudy orange gold with a large and lasting off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma is tangerine, citrus, fresh cut cedar and some grass and spice. Flavor is bigger on the cedar which works well along with the citrus and spice notes that creates a unique and tasty lingering bitterness. Sure liking what CCB has going on and look forward to trying more of their creations. Thanks again Dave!

750 mL bottle thanks to Summer Secret Santa 2009. Pours a hazy brass color with attractive whitish head. The aroma is far more obvious cedar than I was expecting, which is certainly quite interesting; there is also a healthy dose of hops, tangerine and pine especially. The flavor is hoppy right off the bat, with pine and a certain dank herbalness. Then there is plenty of cedar, almost exactly like being inside a cedar chest. The finish is dry and cedary. Makes me want a cigar!

Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Clear orange pour. Pretty stout feeling of hops and spice on the aroma. A little rough. Very large presense of spice on the taste. Black pepper and soft hops. Some hints of wood and cedar. Different!

Bottle via trade. An interesting brew. Not sure what to think about this one. Cedar aging definitely adds some depth. I guess this is a British ipa, because there’s no notable presence of US hops. Okay.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours with a white head over a hazed golden body. Aroma of cedar, grape fruit and a slight hint of bug repellent. Taste is bitter with cedar and pine. Dry mouthfeel, with a bit of alcohol and light carbonation.

750ml bottle. Cool... even though I have some other CCB brews in the cellar, this is the first one that I have actually had the opportunity to taste. Incredibly unique aroma. Resinous hops and spicy cedar are definitely at the fore. Fairly big, dry cracker and biscuit malt profile. Just a touch of alcohol, but not too distracting. The more the beer warms, the more the hops take a backseat to the wood. The hop aroma that is present is mostly oily resin with a very light citrus and cut grass aspect. Pours a definitely unfiltered murky, hazy dark orange with a resilient off-white head. Flavor is rather straightforward, but very unique as far as an IPA goes. Oily, sticky hops, toasty malt and dry, slightly spicy cedar. Some mint and cilantro. Dry bread crust. The spice and dryness of the cedar compliment the hops of the beer incredibly well. Fairly full bodied for and IPA. Velvety texture. Perfect carbonation with a lengthy and spicy finish. Delicious, highly drinkable and incredibly unique. Thanks Bryan!

Pours a dark hazy golden orange/amber color with a 1.5 finger frothy, pillowy off-white head. Good retention with soapy chunks of lacing. Citrus earthy hop aroma. Floral and citrusy with an excellent biscuity malt backbone with a subtle cedar smokey tobacco presence. Creamy medium body with soft carbonation. Citrus hops, light fruit up front followed by a nice citrus hop bitterness and a nice roasty cedary wooden tobacco presence that leads into a very bitter hop finish. Burnt wood tobacco aftertaste is present with a little too much of a mat backbone for my liking but otherwise very unique, complex and drinkable.
