Commercial Description:
The Humidor Series is a rotating offering of Cigar City Brewing beer aged on cedar. Cedar has a more subtle effect on beer than more traditional woods like oak. But, we think that once you taste it you’ll agree that cedar deserves a place alongside oak in the brewer’s wood-aging toolbox.

Bottle from Knightly, this poured a dark cloudy orange with a nice fluffy white head, nose of cedar and citrus, hops, the flavor was very smooth for a IPA not bitter at all, graprefruit, pine and cedar in the finish, overall a fine brew from CCB.CHEERS!

Bottle Shared with Gabe. Poured A nivce orange color with medium head. Aroma was strong cedar wood and hops. Taste was weird, kinda like smoked cedar and a hoppy IPA. Texture was smooth and not bad to drink. Unique for sure.

Bottle from Ibrew2or3. Shared with swolf3. Poured into a snifter, orange almost red hue. Decent head. Funky aroma... I guess thats the cider. Taste is dominated by the cedar.... Unique, still holds the good qualities of an IPA but the cedar kind of takes away from the taste. Funky not tart but just different. Medium texture, easy to drink. Overall: its unique but I like the classic style of west coast hop bombs... Sculpin, Alesmith IPA, Racer 5 and etc are alot better.

100th rating! Pours golden with off-white head. Strong cedar flavor matched with lots of pine hops and some malt sweetness. A really good barrel aged IPA.

Deep golden color with a modest off-white head. Big aromas of pale and toasted malt, tropical fruit, wood, pepper ,citrus and cardamom. Flavors are sweet with plenty of fruit. Spice and wood dry things out. Pepper and cedar completely take over. I didn’t find the cedar too subtle. I actually found it to be rather forward. I think this would age well on a long journey. A bit sharp on the moment.

Pours Texas orange with a dense whipped eggshell colored head. Full rings of lace halfway down the glass. The is a cedar delivery mechanism. Its like I’m sitting in a cedar closet, while chewing on some cedar mulch. There’s plenty of underlying hop character, but cedar is the story here. Medium body with some oil. Y-U-M-M-Y.

I’ve been sitting on this one for a few months, but I figured an IPA ain’t gonna be getting any better - pours a lightly hazy copper, with an impressive, fluffy, lasting head - sticky lace - semi-sweet aroma of citrus and tropical fruits, herbal, dank hops, barely noticeable cedar - the flavor is fairly sweet at first, with strong papaya and mango character - then the bitterness sets in - tasty, but bordering on astringent at times - the cedar is present, but subtle at first, just kind of hanging out, doing nothing, neither adding to nor subtracting from the character of the beer - however, things get kind of dry and woody in the finish - too much so - it tastes like I’m chewing on a hunk of cedar - it doesn’t help that this is the exact point where the hops tend to get a little astringent, either - mild returning sweetness on the very tail end, with lingering mango and guava - there are certain aspects that are overdone/out of balance, but it’s not terrible.

Bottle from The Juice, thanks again. Hazy orange color with a fleeting head. Nice floral hop, musty wood, caramel aromas. Medium body. Good bittersweet floral hop flavor with caramel, earthy cedar, mineral. Great IPA.

Cloudy golden tangerine pour with a soapy eggshell head that left mountainous chunks on the inside of the glass. Ripe grapefruit, orange peel, Ponderosa pine, and wet wood fill the nose. Flavor is candied citrus, resin, and just a hint of cedar. Medium mouthfeel with ample carbonation. A little thick and syrupy. Very good.
