how do you not give this one a perfect score? my last few favorite beers have been imperial stouts, stone russian, and then more recently the stone 12th anniversary bitter chocolate oatmeal - but this really does blow those out of the water. thanks to joey for sharing a bit of this with us. what can you really say about it? it’s amazing. super chocolatey and thick. fuckkkk... dude. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

The best beer I’ve ever had. Draft at the BBA Bolita Release party. Nose is intense chocolate and layers of chocolate malt backed by crazy pepper spice. Pitch black with a gorgeous chocolate colored head with huge staying power. Leaves oily sheeting on the glass. Magnificent. Flavor is Tons of Cocoa and Vanilla up front. Tons of rich cinnamon and coffee abound. Massive pepper notes that are in perfect balance with the roastiness of the beer. This is just a marvel. dchmela (1430), Orlando, Florida, USA

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 28, 2009 On tap at the brewery: Pours a very opaque black with a creamy, well-lacing dark beige head. Has an enticing rich, roasty dark chocolate coffee and tobacco nose. Starts very rich, creamy and dark chocolatey with a molten mocha character and tobacco complexity before a slightly spicy-warming, peppery finish. Very full-bodied, balanced and enjoyable. Easily one of the best imperial stouts I’ve had. soicanbreathe (13), Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA

| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Updated: Jun 28, 2009This is the best beer I have ever had. And its not even close. On tap at the BB Bolita release. Black pour with a nice small brown head. Aroma. Hell where do I start? With the wood aromas? The best smelling chocolate ever? The hints of asphalt, coffee and smoke? Or how about hints of rich chili peppers? Or maybe the vanilla, and spice notes. And the flavor? My god. It is intense, smooth, rich, robust, overstated on some levels, and understated on levels. Tons of chocolate, vanilla, some boozy notes, peppers, chili peppers, molasses, cinnamon, and damn it just keeps going and going. One thing I forgot to mention was the slightest hint of heat that creeps up after a few sips. I think thie heat helps cover the alcohol. Because I tasted no alcohol at all. WOW. I may drop all my previous 5 ratings because this is the best beer on earth. End of story. MrBunn (1528), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Growler with much thanks to an unidentified source (who surely knows who he is.) Dark as the Black Road itself, this has a slowly forming dark tan head. Aromas are weak at first...a bit of smokey peat and a little hot pepper are all that are there. As it warms, the cocoa and vanilla start to come out of the shadows and challenge the others for control. Flavor is darn good... and I mean darn good. It is heavy chocolate maltiness with almost the thickness and consistency of chocolate milk. Roasted malt is all over the place and then, gently pricking the tastebuds comes a little bit of pepper that comes and goes... at times stronger at times weaker. According to my sources this batch doesn’t have the most pronounced hotness, and I do wish it came through a little more. Still... I’m considering moving to Tampa to be closer to the holy fountain.
