Pours clear dark maroon to brown with a short lived beige head. Smell is smooth, creamy, nutty malt, but not mild. Taste is nutty, dry and light coffee with some bitterness with a touch of fruitiness. Noa oatmeal creaminess noticed in this one. Surprisingly thinner body than expected with normal carbonation. Solid and drinkable, but not exceptional as the Bolita Brown was. jkaiser (227), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 17, 2009 I had this at UGB. It pours dark mahogany brown. Half inch of head with medium lacing. The body is medium to full. Not much of aroma, maybe cause of my head cold. The malt and hops are balanced nice, not to overbearing on either side. The alcohol hits me after finishing three quarters of the glass. GAManiac (1203), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Pours a dark mahogany with a small off-white head that recedes fairly quickly and leaves little lacing.
The aroma is really big on this one with tons of caramel malts and nuts. There is a faint hop aroma in the nose and also a good bit of tobacco and chocolate. Big aroma for the style.
The taste follows the aroma with the dominant caramel malt sweetness with lots earthy notes, nuts and tobacco especially come out. Again, only a faint hint of hops leading a fairly dry finish.
The mouthfeel is really smooth with help from the oatmeal and is on the fuller side of things as the style goes. Good carbonation.
This is one of the biggest brown ales I’ve tasted and the flavor profile is very robust compared to others in the style. I really liked this one.
