Pours a clear, deep ruby brown like a a cola with a very thin tan head that leaves little spots of lacing. Aroma is big on dark chocolate, roasted malt, roasted hazelnut, and some dry stout-like ash. Taste is very earthy hops, chocolate malt, some cherry Dr. Pepper. I usually dislike brown ale but I think Cigar CIty is about to turn me seeing this is just the beginning of their offerings. Noe is malt, mild nuts, fine tobacco, hops. Tastes rich, earthy, nutty, malty, with a nice balance and some late tobacco, cacao, and hops. Complex, and a very unique and exciting alternative take on a rather bland style. JaBier (1219), Capital City, Ohio, USA

Malty and caramelly nose. Caramel malt flavor up front with fruity and dry finish that is just a tad bit tart. decaturstevo (1997), decatur, Tennessee, USA

A tad of an off flavor that’s not bad but just takes it down a tad. Thin and watery, I’m not sure if the pour from the growler took something away or what. A damn good beer. Has a toasty nutty and light caramel malty nose with a touch of English hops. Starts with good body and light sweetness well balanced with drier toasty nutty flavor and a touch of milk chocolate. A true to style and enjoyable brown ale. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Brown malt that gives it a nice light sweet crackery character. A touch of light dried fruit and some sweet chewy maltiness. A touch of orange on the back as well. The smoke picks up as the beer starts to warm up and gives it a nice sweet richness. It’s a pretty solid brew.
