| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 29, 2009 A: Pours a nice deep nutty brown hue. Nice tall cream colored head that rises and holds pretty good retention. Slight lace noted.
S: Nice sweet aromas waft from the glass. Lots of sweet malt, notes of brown sugar and gooey toffee. Subtle notes of maple.
T: Solid brown ale. Nice sweet malt base. Gooey nutty toffee with a nice blast of darkened brown sugar. Hints of maple, and a nice dose of hops in the finish. Not the most extreme of CCB offering but its not supposed to be.
M: Medium in body wonderful carbonation on draft. Oatmeal makes it very smooth almost slick.
D: Damn drinkable with tons of flavor packed into 5.5 ABV. I pounded it all day during the Ybor beer fest.

Flavor was chestnuts, smoky malts but surprisingly light and mellow on the finish. I really liked this one and will probably be looking for more of this in the future. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 16, 2009 Updated: Mar 17, 2009Draft at Redlight. The first thing I notice about this is the thickness due to the oatmeal. This isn’t a normal brown ale. Pours a thick chocolate brown with a khaki colored head. Aroma is roasted malts, nuts and a little smoke. Flavor is a roast bomb in your mouth, with a good char, a little vanilla and some espresso. There is just enough sweetness to balance things out without taking away from the roast, which is the focus. This is not a style I normally go after, but I could session this delicious brown ale all night. ...ReRate: I had to add a couple points to this rate because I have been drinking this non-stop for a couple days since my first taste.
