Growler pour courtesy of markwise. Pours hazy brown-gold with modest opacity and white head. The aroma is full and quite yummy with guava tropical fruitiness, some modest smooth pepper notes, newly ripe cherry fruit must, raisins and spices like cinnamon. Wow. Cool flavor. The taste begins with a mild pulse of guava fruit and malt sweetness followed by wavy undulating tall earthiness. Those notes get accompanied by berry fruitiness, grainy malts and assorted spices. I love the nearly bright near ripe red berriness mixing with gludgy wet earthiness. Very cool, very different, very refreshing and very good.

Thanks to kiefdog for sharing the growler. Pours hazy amber yellow with a white head. It is guava grove, so it is an energetic head. Nose is fruit: guava and slight grape, pepper, spice, light fruit, and saison malt. Flavor is the same with grapey, peppery goodness. Pepper slides down the palate and is noticeable at the back of the swallow when searched for. Interesting twist on a great beer.

Grolwer courtesy cmillward. pours a very cloudy, golden orange color topped by a small, off white layer of foam that settles to a thin film leaving spots of lace behind. The aroma shows notes of the fruity guava, pepper spices, and some tart grape skins from the scuppernong grapes. The grapes add a bretty like quality to go with the yeast that is already present. The flavor follows with the sweetness from the guava and tartness from the grapes blending nicely to go with the pepper spices on the backend. Medium bodied with balanced carbonation that leads to a dry, tart finish. This is a really nice treatment, but the bottle is still top notch in my book.

Growler… October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown!… Murky peach-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is fruity and a smidge lactic with a healthy note of toffee. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is mainly fruity and tart with just a whisper of peppery flavor and even a rumor of peppery heat in the finish. Growler courtesy of cmillward!

Growler, courtesy cmillward. The pour yields a cloudy, glowing, pinkish-orange to amber colored body. A small, off-white layer of smooth foam sits at the head, leaving thin, sheety splotches of lacing behind. The aroma shows the subtle guava fruitiness present in the base beer, along with a lightly vinous, scuppernong grape. The tannic skins have clearly imparted a bretty, wild yeast element that really works well with the Saint Somewhere yeast and the guava. White pepper lends a subtle, spicy punch that fits right in. Flavors show very much the same, soft guava sweetness and zippy white grape notes playing nicely, with light pepperiness intensifying on the finish. Medium bodied and softly carbonated, the palate is initially round, transitioning to the sharp, dry, wild yeast finish. Good stuff. The treatment really works well, though I still think I prefer the bottle conditioned stuff.

Tasted at Otown Throwdown courtesy Cmillward. Hazy amber orange pour. Sour tart, fruity guava, pepper aroma. Huge fruit, pepper, guava taste with some tartness. Another awesome treatment from CCB.

Courtesy cmillward. Like an ’t Ij brewery remix of guava grove. Fruity Brett like yeast with subtle grape and pepper. Beautiful treatment.
