The taste is also sweet and quite funky, but the sweetness dominates the funk and makes it a bit of a struggle. Papsoe (15091), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 15, 2005 Not sure what to make of this one. Brownish appearance with just a slight hint of sourness. Traces of bitterness although i would not describe this as a complex beer but it is still a quite interesting one. Nate (2554), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 1, 2004 Sweet rye bread aroma, light brown sugar. Mild hops, kind of floral. Clear amber with touch of brown, clear, with thin off-white lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with some rye, brown sugar, caramel malt, and some roasted dry character. Medium carbonic acidity toward the finish, with just little staleness or metallic quality. Medium hops tang, and just a little bitter. Can taste some alcohol, though it’s only 5.9%. After is dry, with some bitter cooked pea/rye flavor. Not a bad amber. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 15, 2004 in chambery, france: drank this one with a strawberry donut and some demiglasse. whiffed by me like a stormtrooper ready to take the house. but copper colored instead of white and reaking of malty sweet caramel shoes. some slight fruit hop notes maybe. if your lucky. my impression was this was an amber of somesort not a belgian style ale. some strange combinations in these french alp breweries.
