Bottle: This beer pours a cloudy gold color with a white, fizzy, diminishing head. Dominant aroma is alcohol along with scents of sweet spices like cinnamon & nutmeg. Also noticed was a hint of grape. The carbonation is pretty strong making this brew rich and sweet. I didn’t like this one because in all that sweetness I felt like I was drinking liquified dryer sheets soaked in bowling alley wax topped with a dollup of saddle soap all covered by a horse blanket. In my humble opinion, I think the French should stick to making great Bordeaux’s and Côtes du Rhône’s!

Bottle. Best before 4/05. Small white head that mostly diminished, fine-medium sized bubbles, virtually no lacing, hazy, carbonated, and a golden hue. Aroma was malty, sweet, fruity and alcohol. Flavor was sweet, lightly acidic, malty, fruity, vinuous although not overdone at 8%. Mouthfeel was tingly with a mild burning sensation. Medium body.

33 cl bottle: Golden hazy amber w/ a thin, short lived white head. Fresh ground pale malt & floral estery aroma @ first, with some perfumey alcohol. Green apple fruitiness & bready yeast w/ some light plums as well. Alcohol becomes more apparent as it warms. Well balanced for the most part, but on the sweet side w/ some bready malt and sugary flavor. A bit of bitterness mid palate, but finishes sugary sweet. Some lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Some floral hop flavor creeps in, but becomes increasingly cloying as ti warms. No real fruitiness in the flavor, just sugary & alcohol. Highly carbonated, surprisingly well hidden alcohol in the mouthfeel but lightly astringent. Yet another French brewery trying their hand at a Belgian style. Maybe, they should stick to wine or Champagne!!! Not a lot of complexity to this one, just alcohol & sugar in the flavor, a mild floral in the nose, and not very exciting.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, blond beer with a limited but creamy head. Quite strong but the alcohol is hidden well behind the typical ale fruitiness. 260403

Picked this one up in a supermarche in Grenoble, France. Pours a clear brgith copper with a thin but creamy ivory colored head. Smell is spicy and fruity. Hints of mandarin orange and orange soda. Taste has a pronounced yeastiness. Spicy (nutmeg and light pepper), lightly fruity and lightly metallice. Low alcohol flavors giving off vanilla, caramel and orange peel. Creamy and well balanced. Smooth yet definitely a slow sipping beer. Lots going on and I can honestly say I’ve never tasted anything quite like it.

33cl bottle at Le Sous Bock - Paris. Dense gold color, perfumy aroma, medium body, big malty flavor and alcoholic aftertaste. A bold offering worth sampling.

Bottle: Pale golden, slight haze, small white head, spritzy, nice lacing, soft carbonation.   Subtle fruity/floral aroma, slightly sweet & spicy.   Smooth sweet malt flavor, minor fruit and spices.   8% ABV?   Sure doesn’t feel it.   More alcohol on the nose & tongue as it warms.   Average palate.   Quick finish, only lingering sweet malt & slight phenols.   Nothing out of the ordinary, but fairly clean and easy to drink.
