Pour, after it was done gushing all over the place, a darkened brown off white cap. Flavor was okay nothing really that jumped out at you. Overall it was ok, just lacked depth. richlikebeer (832), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 22, 2005 Beautiful mahagony brown color with a medium frothy head on top. Almond nose - but weak, roasted malt and some toffee. Sweet malt taste - too sweet for my liking and a nice short hoppy finish. The combination is good, but it isn’t in a good balance nor is it extraordinary. Mklein818 (165), Etterbeek, Virginia, Belgium
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Oct 17, 2005 A weird combination of "overly sweet" and "overly hoppy"--in a land of great beers, this one can only qualify as strange. plovmand (1723), Helsinge, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2005 Light brown head stayed in glass for surprisingly long time. Body smooth dark brown. Taste sweeter than most of belgian bruines i have tasted but still with some nice sourness. Aftertaste lasts for some time. Overall a great bruin. hughie (3069), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 30, 2005 Decent beige head which left some lacing and dark red-brown colour. Yeast and a touch of malt in the aroma. At first I wasn’t too impressed, thinking there wasn’t much subtlety here, but as the level in the glass went down I warmed to the delicate sweetness, the touch of plummy fruit and citric sourness, and the very late bitter aftertaste. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 19, 2005 (250 ml bottle: Shared by SDbruboy, thanks Cliff!) My favorite beer of the evening at this little tasting at my friend Cliff’s. It pours a beautiful garnet color and is fully clear in appearance. There is a mildly sour aroma, some light funk and minimal sweetness. As the beer warms and aerates, it begins to take on a mild vinegar aroma, which sounds bad, but it isn’t. Mildly sweet flavor is much sweeter than the nose, but the sweetness is not something you focus on. Dark fruits, brown sugar, and a light sourness to keep it from being too sweet. Medium bodied, but it coats every corner of the mouth. Light tan head is very small on the pour, fading to an incomplete sheen, leaving only bits of patchy lacing on the glass.
