Quite sweet with aromas dates toffee and brown sugar. Also a light Belgian yeast touch. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Short dry metallic finish. auderale (572), Fairchild AFB, Washington, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Bottle, 250ml. A clear dark brown colour with a small head. A sweet, malty aroma. Taste is very malty with chocolate, bread, some raisin and a hint of spice. Moderate carbonation. A quite sweet, malty finish. After having Ciney Blonde, I wasn’t expecting much from this; but although the aroma isn’t great, the taste is pretty good. A little too sweet though. maeib (4768), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Dark brown colour. Very smooth, easy drinking beer. Initially a bit bitter on the tongue but it’s followed by a sweet and slightly roasted taste and has aromas of ripe fruit. beerbuzzmontreal (2931), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 7, 2007 Pours a brown color with ruby highlights and a thin light brown head. Aroma of malt, chocolate and nuts with a little something off and unpleasant but not too disturbing. The flavor has chocolate, nuts and malt with again that unpleasant element that feels a bit weird. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. DruncanVeasey (2768), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England

Glassily clear red pour with a thinning slick of bubbles. Thin and watery for a Dubbel. Possibly slightly licoriced. Some horribly stale burnt sugar/cardboard notes. Partially redeemed by some pleasant whiskeyish graininess and aromatic bread in the finish, but it’s too little too late. Far from great Bruin/Dubbel.
