Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 6, 2007 Clear, dark garnet-accented brown. Demerara, old rum (sans booze), plums, apples in the nose. Sweet, soft body with mellow sugars, dates and a hint of vanilla. More rounded and complex than any other filtered dubbel I’ve had.
Habanero (470), Tranbjerg, Denmark Aug 30, 2008 Bottled. Pours clear and dark amber with an off-white, foamy head that disappears fast. Lots of carbonation. Nose of malt with notes of nuts and fruit. Sweet flavour with caramel and malt. Watery palate. Medium bodied. Little bitterness at the end. Disappointing. Borresteijn (542), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle. Ruby brown, off-white head. Aroma of malts, brown sugar. Flavour is sweet, soft, malty, brown sugar. A slightly dry finish. Maybe a bit too sweet, but an OK dubbel. stouby (1447), Holbaek, Denmark Jul 31, 2008 Bottle at home.
