Hazy golden in color. Head was a massive gusher that took a long time to settle down and left lots of floating sediment. The head held strong at four fingers of thickness for a long time. A very creamy meringue of a head. Lemond rind and citrus dominate the fore followed by vanilla tinged malt and yeast. Finish is crisp and abrupt and has a hoppy slightly lemon zest bitterness. I really like the flavor...added some to the egg batter for chicken cutlets and I think it will work nicely. Nicely done. haddon90 (1036), Alexandria, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2005 Bought this bottle up in Marlton, NJ. Pours a hazy, golden color with a rather large head. Yeast, malt, and some citrusy aromas. Flavor is of subtle lemons, a hint of grapefruit, and a tiny bit of hops. Kind of mild compared to the aroma, but still pretty decent. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2005 yellow gold color, lots of fizz up the center. first pour was 1/20th body, and the rest was white rocky head. lasted for a good five minutes. aroma is a little yeasty, bready, lemony, and spicy. flavor is bitter like grapefruit pithand collard greens, also lemony and dryish. aroma is more promising than the flavor. dry bitter finish. thick lacing clings with overhangs inside the glass. after having some cave-aged emmenthaler, the sweeter graininess flavor surfaced. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2005 Pours gold/orange and very cloudy with a huge white head. Some floaties are present in the beer suggesting it was bottle conditioned. Smells of cookie dough, apples, and grass. Tastes bitter with some lemony and grapefruit notes, similar to an IPA. I don’t know what this is supposed to be, but it is definitely not a blond ale. Bailz316 (221), Mendham, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 16, 2005 Blonde beer with frothy white head. Head disappears rather quickly. Nice fruity nose. Hoppy. Very citrusy. Tastes very much like lemons. Finish is bitter and lingers on the palate awhile. willblake (2177), Belcamp, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 12, 2005 08.12.05 750ml bottle. What in the world is up with this stuff? Nearly impossible to get it into the glass. First pour was an inch of hazy golden beer and overflowing off-white foam. Second attempt was a volcano of more foam. I’ve settled for a half glass of beer after a fifteen minute wait. Well, it’s worth the wait. Aroma is juicy and hoppy with lots of sourish grass, some citrus, lots of pine, and some cracker. There’s also a mystery mineral aroma that’s earthy like moss and musty appleskins hidden under the bigger aromas; a nice secondary complexity. Flavor is just as curious as the aroma. Up front it’s a barrage of bright and oily lemon skins mixed with a healthy dose of pinesol. It’s a bit too much at first. But underneath the madness is a milder, grassy, fresh, and quenching beer with touches of summer grain fields drenched in citrus blossom nectar. Very nice juxtiposition of sourness and sweetness for such a light beer, and never too tart. It’s like a crisp, lemony pastry. Well done. Ughsmash (4030), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 10, 2005 Thanks to swededog for this one!! Whoa! This was a powerfully active pour... at first attempt, about 1/2" of golden liquid and 6" of rocky white head. Second pour was cloudy with some yeast floaties. Musty aroma with a lot of lemon and pine character... as well as some breadiness. Well-carbonated saison-like mouthfeel. Flavor was dominated by sour lemon from the lips through the finish... which was oddly refreshing (it grew on me as the 750 mL went down). There was a nice bready backbone for the citrus. Not the best first impression, but this was really good when it warmed a bit! QAWSBeerGuy (15), Teaneck, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 7, 2005 A pleasant surprise after tasting it a second time. The first time was when the Cisco rep was in and I got to sample the whole line. The Summer of Lager overwhelmed my mouth and everything else I tasted afterwards paled in comparison. After I got this bad boy in-store, I got to taste it again and was thorougly impressed. I really like the hoppy blonde style. The key, I think, is that the hops aren’t overbearing, but still very much present while you taste it. I would have never expected a beer with this kind of cloud cover to be this crisp. Gotta buy a bottle to bring home for the personal collection/rainy day fund.
