A dark stout with a thin moka head. In aroma, a nice chocolate with moka coffee notes, vinous and pleasant. In mouth, a good intense stout with bitter chocolate, loads of torrefied coffee beans, good bitterness, toasted coffee beans, British hops, sustained bitterness, notes of molasses and figs. Rich and toasty stout. Served from a bomber at Cisco Brewpub, Logan Airport, Nov. 15 2009.

black color, tiny tan bubbles for a head, lots of lace. nose has raosty malt, fruit, bitter coffee, trace of chocolate...i think the fruitiness dominates. flavor of chocolate and roasty malt, with a hint of bitter coffee. medium bodied, lightly bitter finish. not bad, but not exciting, either. thanks to FlsmrBrewAlum for providing the sample.

Sampled from a bottle brought to the last Flossmoor Station Mug Club tapping, thoughtfully provided by FlsmrBrewAlum. It was nearly black in the glass with a decent enough tan head and provided plenty of lace. The aroma was choclate, a light roasted barley, and dark caramel. Smooth. The flavor saw the addition of butterscotch and a bit of an off tartness, but the creaminess absorbed that well. Not a bad brew.

750 ml bottle courtesy of. Pours a near pitch black, small tannish head that dies to a film and laces ok. Aromas are roasty malts, sweet with caramel, butterscotch, chocolate, coffee, sweet with a decent bittering hop on the nose. Initial is medium bodied, but coats the palate well with chocolate, sweet caramel and butterscotch, a touch of bitter hop, creamy, almost a diacetyl problem with a bit of char on the end. This beer s ok, trying to do more than it can. Flavors are rich, medium bodiedn but the sweetness clouds the vision a bit. Don’t get me wrong, the bitterness is ok, but this beer is has a bit of sweetness issue. Ok. Not my thing.

Bomber from Green’s. Pours a near black with ruby hues and a well formed tan head. The aroma is dense with chocolate notes and a pleasant piney, citrusy hoppiness. I was surprised at the palate, it’s a lighter than the appearance and aroma lead me to believe. Chocolate, caramel, and a roasty finish round this out. Not a bad beer, but lacks the finesse of the finest stouts.

[Bottle, thanks Skyview!] Pours dark brown with a very light tan head. Aroma is fairly hoppy with a decent amount of cocoa and some celery notes. Taste has deep roasted malt, decent bitterness, and some chocolate. A touch thin, but has a nice long finish. This is an old rating that I discovered in my computer case, so I’m not sure when exactly I had it. Either way, thanks again, Bob!

22oz bottle–pours a rich brown head and black color. Aroma is sweet dark malt-molasses/chocolate, wood, secondary pine hops. Taste is ashy/roasty, dark malt-molasses/chocolate/coffee, wood, secondary earthy/acidity pine hops. Mid-palate the sweetness comes thru but is still dominated by ashy and acidic. Full body.

22 ounce bottle in pint glass. Black with tan, slightly fizzy head. Roasted coffee aroma with mild fruit and earth. Very bitter espresso roast with mild fruit and bitter fruity finish. Smooth body somewhat medium light body. Decent.
