REDDOGICE (181), nantucket, Massachusetts, USA Jul 5, 2004 Watch out for the head of this beer! it explodes.... it took me 3 3/4 glasses to contain the head. the taste is okay...more ’neh’ than GEE! THIS IS GREAT! zalix (1), Falls Church, Virginia, USA does not count Aug 31, 2005 A great refreshing handcrafted English style ale. Not overly hoppy, has a bold tast and smooth finish. jca_lbi (378), New Jersey, USA May 28, 2002 There are 2 beers that I attribute to having opened my mind to the true world of beer. Sam Adams Boston Lager taught me there is more to beer than Bud and Coors. Cisco’s Whales Tale Pale Ale opened my senses to the hoppier side of life. However, I have not had the pleasure of revisiting this brew since my wife and I took a trip to Nantucket back in October, 1998. Finally (thanks to VENOM) I had that opportunity. Mandarin orange color with a cloudy/yeasty appearance. Creamy and persistent off white head. Very floral hop dominated nose. Full bodied and heavily carbonated, though not out of control. A tangy hop bitterness with an underlying malt base that does tone the hops down, but not out. Excellent Pale Ale. beb5000 (23), Avon, Connecticut, USA Dec 20, 2002 I got this as a gift and loved it. Very hoppy, but great. A lot of carbination, but it adds to the flavor bkuzmin99 (20), Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2002 Especially good when served ice cold.
