Typical American lager. Fluffy head, medium yellow, nice steady carbonation. Not much "nose" to speak of, but what is there leans more towards the hop. Nice, smooth body with a light malt flavor, and a bit of a "yeasty" touch to it as well. The hops are certainly there, but blend in harmoniously rather than being too assertive or too weak. This beer is what it is. It’s not going to win any major awards at a World Beer Tasting Championship, but for having a few brewski’s with some peanuts or a hot dog at the game, this’ll fit rather nicely! Pours a clear golden pale blonde brew with a fast dissolving white head that leave behind a white ring and no lacing. Aroma of light bready malt, a touch of lemon citrus zest and even a hint of honey. Taste is light bodied, well carbonated, smooth with a bready malt and citrus hop flavor. Finish has a slight bitter taste at first and then crisp and clean cut. This definately reminds me of the original Heileman’s Old Style beer of the 1980s. oldstyle (15), USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 8, 2007 Avoid New Jersey. This is better than half the commercially available pale lagers out there. Definitely not much more than what you expect -- but there is some maltiness in the mouth that comes as a surprise. I’m shocked this crap is getting a 22 percentile rating. "Brewed with pure artesian water." Yeah, artesian water with rats bathing in it! Horrendous aftertaste, thin, disappearing head, color like urine tapped out of a 93-year old’s Foley bag. Do yourself a favor, avoid this beer (and Wisconsin in general) as you would the Black Death.
