Thin fizzy head which dissipates quickly. Light carbonation. Grassy, hoppy, cerealy with some soft malts and vanilla. Color is a light brownish gold. Clean and refreshing. Soft malts and a bit of crisp corn. Very easy drinking. A good brew when you are thirsty. Light acidic bitterness. Finishes clean and smooth. One of the better pale lagers I have had.

Rated 8/13/06: Solid swill, had a couple at my wife’s sisters house the other day. Aroma and appearance are nothing to write home about. There is a fuller mouthfeel and a maltier taste than most commercial swills. Nothing spectacular but decent on a hot humid day while hanging out on the front porch.

Another, uh, treasure from Sal’s Beverage World in suburban Chicago. faint sweet corn aroma, moderate yellow color, not highly carbonated, light body, sweet corn/malt flavor, where are the hops? And is it really brewed to the old Old Style recipe? It’s been so long since I’ve had an Old Style I can’t exactly say but I think it’s better. Not a beer to travel out of your way for but a good everyday, lawnmower type brew--definitely better than the macros. And the City Brewery March To World Domination continues--even if no one is noticing!

Pours a straw gold color with a head that disappears as soon as you stop pouring. Aroma is sweet corn. Taste is sweet pale malt, corn grits and hops, but very little of each. Inoffensive and pleasant, but would be much better if more flavorful. Good lawn mower beer and, for the price, better than MBC.

Lacrosse Lager has arrived on the outskirts of Philadelphia. I was told by the local beer rep that LaCrosse will soon be brewed in Latrobe by City Brewing. I wonder if they’ll change the name on the East Coast to Latrobe Lager in attempt to lure former Rolling Rock drinkers. LaCrosse is a close imitation of Old Style; corny, light bitterness and smooth finish.

3/1/07: Classy can.
Corn yellow and quite clear. Head is powdered snow colored and quickly diminishes. Slight aroma of a wee-bit-o-lemon (possibly imagined). Flavor is pils-like, maybe a touch of corn. Lovely tin can mouth-feel.

I first tried LaCrosse to harken back to the "pre-buyout" taste of Old Style. Whether that tale is true or not, I gotta say I was impressed at the amount of flavor Lacrosse has for its price. This is an "everyday" kinda beer ... nothing magical - just solid.

suprisingly not that bad. I paid 10 bucks for a 30 pack (hey if you’re gonna try it, go all out) and actually enjoyed it... to an extent. beats miller...
