| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 25, 2004 Nice golden color, small white head that faded quickly leaving little behind. The aroma was light malt with a mild hop and fruit presence. The flavor came off as much the same as the aroma light malt and a light fruit but the hops are fairly mild IMO to mild with little to offer as far as a good PA.It’s worthy of being a decent everyday brew i guess but for that special brew where your looking for a bigger flavor....This isn’t it.Thanks to GrainbeltGuzzler for sending this brew my way. balke13 (156), MIssoula, Montana, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 5, 2004 pours an orange golden color with a thin white head. grassy aroma as well as a light hop smell, metallic tasting with a small amount of bitterness, slightly fruity but not even close to the hop profile i have found to love in pale ales...very metallic maybe i got a bad bottle. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 19, 2004 I found this really to be not too bad. A little stringy, if that makes any sense, or grainy. But it works as an easy summer kind of beer in a regualr guy tipping a bottle and sighing, "Now this is America!" kind of way. heemer77 (4309), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 10, 2003 Not bad for a small brewery. Has little hops flavor. Nothing to make this extraordinary. raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2003 Nice amber coloring with a slightly hoppy aroma. Has a somewhat hoppy taste but I was expecting even more hops after checking out the label which shows hops overflowing from a beer mug. Not bad - but not one of the best. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 19, 2003 Orange-golden color, fruity apple-berry hop taste wuth a sharp bitter finish, although on the mild side in all aspects. drismyhero (815), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 2, 2003 My roomates are from LaCrosse and hold a special place in their cheese laden hearts for this brewery. But I gotta tell you, this was a bit like a macro with a few hop flowers thrown in the boil - (that macro Busch/Hamms rotten barley quality we all love so much). The hops that were present were more of a flash-in-the-pan bitterness than anything else, leaving you with that wonderful macro flavor. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 6, 2003 After so many bland lagers in City Brewery's lineup, I really wanted to like this brew more than I did. I first had it at a beer festival and remember liking more than I did during this rating, which actually took place at City Brewery. The aroma is this brew's best attribute; hops are evident with some floral notes and a hint of apple. Amber body, good lace and a mostly disappating head. Flavor is that of burnt molasses. Not nearly hoppy enough for a pale ale, which leaves it malt dominated. Not great.
