Sep 30, 2008 On tap at City Steam. Pours a dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt. Flavor of coffee, roasted nuts, roasted malt. Very light bodied, almost like a Schwartzbier. Nice and pretty tasty. Definitely must be a new batch/recipe because I don’t understand why the beer I had would get such low scores.

Sep 29, 2008 Tap. Aroma roasty with milky coffee. Flavor has a silky, milky sweetness and some nuttiness (almond?). Lighter bodied, but not in a lacking way, in a nice to quaff way. I have to think something has changed with this one because I can’t imagine the beer I had getting 3 sub-3’s in a row.

Aug 21, 2008 Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of chocolate, some licorice, earthy, roasted malt. Tastes of coffee, licorice, some nice clove hints, touches of chocolate and molasses. Very enjoyable!

Dec 30, 2006 on tap-pours a tan head that laces and black color. Aroma is dark malt-coffee/chocolate, acidic. Taste is dark malt-coffee/chocolate, acidic. Mild carbonation.

Jan 10, 2005 3 oz sample. Roasty, musty chocolate aroma that is somewhat ill-defined with metallic notes. Moderately opaque dark brown with lightish transparencies around the edges and a light tan head. Thin, watery to start withslight chocolate roasted notes in the middle finishing with more thinness and wateriness.
