First glass amber body with big tan head and carbination. Second glas body had more of a murky brown body color. Sweet fruit along with some sticky caramel malt flavor. Good sipping brew. With the alocohol presence really not so on the palate as was rather smooth to drink. kkearn (1002), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2007 16.9oz blue flip-top bottle, purchased at Capones (Norristown, PA). Amber color, with a thin cover of large, tan bubbles. Orange, pine, and alcohol most notabel in the aroma, with some caramel in the background. Medium body, with moderate carbonation. Sweet malt flavor, with some honey and spice and a minimal hoppy finish. Smooth and easy to drink, but lacks the assertive nature i’d expect from a barleywine. Aroma of complex, sweet caramel malt with a touch of toast and crystalized sugar and light fruits. Body starts with a nice, full caramel sweetness, light fruity complexity and a smooth, slightly warming finish. A good barleywine. taeagan (9), USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 2, 2007 Big in every way. Warming alcohol presence. Taste is a dunkelweizen with noble hops. A bit different than would expect from the style. Earlier Rating: 3/22/2006 Total Score: 3.2 on tap-Enjoyed this during a ‘Tour’ of the brewery with Kathy. Tour given byDave with an assist by Kurt. We had an interesting and fun time there. Color is an orange-red-brown. Aroma is vanilla, sweet. Taste follows along with a toastiness. A nice occasional beer. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Hazy deep coppery pour with huge, 3-finger, fluffy off-white head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus, hops, pear, plum, brown sugar. Tastes caramel malty as its base, with hops, citrus, and multiple fruit flavors, including pear, plum, apple, and tangerine, plus some brown sugary notes. Medium palate heft with well hidden alcohol. Not bad, but not a great example of the style.
