Sampled a few times at "Central Jersey" beerfest. Unimpressive looking gold color, with a moderately hopped light cereal malt body. A bit thin tasting. Granted, its probably a tough style to showcase and expect ’blown away’ reactions. All in all not terrible, but nothing memorable.

070701-Climax Cream Ale–growler-pours a thin bubbly white head and cloudy/hazy orange/gold color. Aroma is medium fruit-some citrus, yeasty, musty. Taste is medium fruit-some citrus, yeasty, musty, cream, secondary spice hops. Chalky, soapy, acidic/bitter. Disappointing beer from Dave. If I keep drinking this I’d lower score further. Three of us shared and dumped over ½ growler and three ½ pint glasses. Taste is on line with the home brewed Canadian Lager Joe, Ed and I did. Really. 1.0 *070710-Climax Cream Ale–replacement growler pours a foamy light tan head and slightly hazy gold/light amber color. Aroma is musty, slightly sweet fruit, grain dust, earthly hops. Taste is musty, slightly sweet fruit, grain dust, earthly/slightly spicy hops. Light body, thin, chalky and tart fruit, finishes with continental hops. Soft carbonation. 3.0 Deteriorates further in. 070701-Climax Cream Ale–growler-pours a thin bubbly white head and cloudy/hazy orange/gold color. Aroma is medium fruit-some citrus, yeasty, musty. Oh, so you think Cream ales are boring and kind of avoid them whenever presented with the chance. Enter Climax Cream Ale. This brew will turn your preconceptions about cream ale on their ear. The first thing you notice is a whack of fruity aroma hops. I thought IPA immediately. Take a sip, expecting strong bitterness, and it is not there. There is a bit of hop bite on the tail end, but very little bittering. All of the character is in the aroma and flavoring hops. The mild cereal maltiness creates a backbone that allows the hop character to shine through nicely. Also, as its name suggests, it has a creamy mouthfeel and ample frothy head.

Cloudy yellow with very little aroma, and not much flavor to speak of. What was there, was earthy and mildly hopped. Noticed a trace of honey in the overall profile. No real head or lacing to speak of, and the carbonation was nearly non-existant, even though bubbles were rising rapidly in my glass. Honestly, this was a bit of a let down.

Tap at Andy’s. Cloudy yellow in color with a white head. Hoppy clean aroma. Very hoppy. Noble hops. Enjoyable. Crisp and clean.

Tap at Andy's. Cloudy yellow orange, white head. This one is all about the hops....Hoppy clean aroma. Flavor is dominated by noble hops, with lots of them, but not being too citrussy as to black out the malty undertones. Too hoppy for the style, but that is what makes it good.

Very light body, darker color than expected. Also more hoppy than expected. Not a bad beer, but not great. The very light, thin body took some getting used to.
