070701-Climax Cream Ale–growler-pours a thin bubbly white head and cloudy/hazy orange/gold color. Aroma is medium fruit-some citrus, yeasty, musty. Taste is medium fruit-some citrus, yeasty, musty, cream, secondary spice hops. Chalky, soapy, acidic/bitter. Disappointing beer from Dave. If I keep drinking this I’d lower score further. Three of us shared and dumped over ½ growler and three ½ pint glasses. Taste is on line with the home brewed Canadian Lager Joe, Ed and I did. Taste is musty, slightly sweet fruit, grain dust, earthly/slightly spicy hops. Light body, thin, chalky and tart fruit, finishes with continental hops. No issues, just a nice hops, cream aroma and taste is nice hops, med malt-cream. 3.7

Tap at Barcade. Hazy golden-orange beer with a white head. Aroma is quite citrusy with lots of marmalade and light grapefruity citrus character. Flavour shows very light maltiness with just a touch of light crackery character. Flavour shows lots of fresh citrusy hops with just a hint of light resinousness. Fairly dry finish. It’s pretty nice. More APA than crea ale, but whatever.

Draft at barcade. Pours a hazy golden body with a white head. Aroma is hoppy; earthy hops, grass, citrus and floral notes. Easy drinking beer but nothing stand out about this one. Easy to drink.

Tap at Barcade. this was eh. Pours orange with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet and hoppy and eh. Taste is sweet crisp and just a big old eh.

I don’t generally expect much from cream ales (see Genessee) and this one is similar, but more complex and therefore more enjoyable. There was a decent hop presence, too, but not much aroma.

Tap at Barcade: Hazy honey color with an off white film. Biscuity aroma with some grass, sweet pale malt and an touch of orange. Well carbonated body. Has some evident pale malt in the flavor with light caramelized character. Then an orange-citrus hop touch comes through. Earthy grain is in there also with a fairly resiny finish. Simple, nothing really wrong with it, and it’s easy to put away a pint quickly.

Tap at Andy’s. Cloudy yellow in color with a white head. Hoppy clean aroma. Very hoppy. Noble hops. Enjoyable. Crisp and clean.
