070701-Climax Cream Ale–growler-pours a thin bubbly white head and cloudy/hazy orange/gold color. Aroma is medium fruit-some citrus, yeasty, musty. Taste is medium fruit-some citrus, yeasty, musty, cream, secondary spice hops. Chalky, soapy, acidic/bitter. Disappointing beer from Dave. If I keep drinking this I’d lower score further. Three of us shared and dumped over ½ growler and three ½ pint glasses. Taste is on line with the home brewed Canadian Lager Joe, Ed and I did. Really. 1.0 *070710-Climax Cream Ale–replacement growler pours a foamy light tan head and slightly hazy gold/light amber color. Aroma is musty, slightly sweet fruit, grain dust, earthly hops. Taste is musty, slightly sweet fruit, grain dust, earthly/slightly spicy hops. Light body, thin, chalky and tart fruit, finishes with continental hops. Soft carbonation. 3.0 Deteriorates further in. 070701-Climax Cream Ale–growler-pours a thin bubbly white head and cloudy/hazy orange/gold color. Aroma is medium fruit-some citrus, yeasty, musty. Half gallon growler. Hazy amber, yellow color. Creamy, long lasting beige head. A pleasant biscuit malt aroma is balanced by a refreshing spicy hoppiness. Creamy semi-sweet malt flavor with hints of vanilla and fruit. Decent hop bitterness lies long on the tongue. This is very drinkable ale that I highly recommend.

Tap at Andy's. Cloudy yellow orange, white head. This one is all about the hops....Hoppy clean aroma. Flavor is dominated by noble hops, with lots of them, but not being too citrussy as to black out the malty undertones. Too hoppy for the style, but that is what makes it good.

Oh, so you think Cream ales are boring and kind of avoid them whenever presented with the chance. Enter Climax Cream Ale. This brew will turn your preconceptions about cream ale on their ear. The first thing you notice is a whack of fruity aroma hops. I thought IPA immediately. Take a sip, expecting strong bitterness, and it is not there. There is a bit of hop bite on the tail end, but very little bittering. All of the character is in the aroma and flavoring hops. The mild cereal maltiness creates a backbone that allows the hop character to shine through nicely. Also, as its name suggests, it has a creamy mouthfeel and ample frothy head.

Tap at Barcade. Hazy golden-orange beer with a white head. Aroma is quite citrusy with lots of marmalade and light grapefruity citrus character. Flavour shows very light maltiness with just a touch of light crackery character. Flavour shows lots of fresh citrusy hops with just a hint of light resinousness. Fairly dry finish. It’s pretty nice. More APA than crea ale, but whatever.

Draft. Pours yellow gold with a white head. sweet malt aroma with a hint of hops. The flavor is well balanced with both floral hops and sweet and grainy malt. Very drinkable, much better than I expected.

Growler from EZ Liquors...well it is pretty much the only way Climax beers are sold. Pours a thin looking orangey gold with a medium sized bright white frothy head that has some decent lasting power. Aroma of celery, grains, and more vegtable notes sneaking in. Medium to light bodied with very crisp noticable carbonation and a biter bite on the end. Flavor of malty cereal grains, slight honey sweetness, a touch of corn and a citrus rind bite on the ending. If this one was slightly cheaper it might make for a decent session beer but at $9.99 for 62 oz and from the same state it’s more like a hmmmm.....I’ve had it so maybe I miiiiight pick it up again to support the local guy but at that price not likely....
