Brewtopia 11-12-05, This was a middle of the road brew. Nothing great, nothing offensive, nothing to remember.

This beer was a let down - but then ESB’s are not my favorite. Althought other Climax beers were good . ..

Mildly hazy deep amber supporting a 2 finger light khaki head and light lacing. Aroma of malt, hay, almonds and hops. Definately a malty beer but not aggressively so. Aside from the center stage of lightly toasted malt were supporting performances by caramel, vanilla, and toasted nuts all at the subtle direction of hops. Very dry and clean finish. Overall, a refreshing ale.

poured with no head from a growler. kinda flat. I bet if there was some carbonation, this would be a really good beer, because the maltiness is nice, and the hops present but not overpowering. it just looks so much like apple cider.

Since I have been unlucky enough to find this on tap...or is that lucky enough to enjoy some other fine brews at this beer’s expense? Well, this is Climax ESB’s turn. I finally had the cojones to buy a growler, even if it was split in cost with someone else. Smelled good, looked good, although it had an almost anti-head, which I don’t mind since it came from a growler. Props for "keeping it real" and only going for kegs and growlers. I <3 Climax for that. The malt in this was abundant but not overpowering. Hops hung out like check this bitter, yo; without getting all in your face. Nice ESB

On tap at Andy’s/. Light orange and clear in color with a nice white head. Caramel, nutty aroma. Some hops. Big malty flavor. Not bad. Malty finish.

Tap at Andy’s. Poured light orange, clear with a white head. Had a carmel almost nutty aroma, with a touch of hops. Flavor had a big nutty malty component with some hop bitterness. Malty finish.

Poured a dark copper color with a small, creamy, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Buttery, sweet caramel, citrus, and light nut aroma. Light citrus hoppiness, more nuts and sweet caramel in the taste.
