Flavor was a mild fruit bitterness with a clean malt backbone. Climax had a bad start out of the gate (flat) and never recovered for me. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 15, 2005 Tap @ Barcade. Gold color with a small head and tons of lacing. Floral and citrus aromas are everywhere. Taste has a somewhat sweet lilac flavor and the hops are somewhat sour. Almost tastes like a SweetTart. Not bad though. rickgordon (3331), Göteborg, Sweden

Dark amber. Chocolatey, piney Cascade nose. Flavour is not as pronounced and brings smallish notes of cocoa and orange peel. The finishing bitterness would have been balance if not for the dry paperiness. Light bodied. GuilTTy (538), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2005 Hazy reddish amber with a nice khaki head and good lacing. Subtle aroma of brown sugar, malt & some hops. Surprising chocolatey flavor which blended well with the nutty malt backbone and dry hoppy bite. Nice crisp finish. This a good find from a true micro/craft brewer. As far as I know, his brews are only available in growlers at a small number of shops in NJ - almost all of those in north Jersey. Overall, this is definately not a hophead’s IPA but it’s a good and interesting one despite it’s tame bitterness. pivo (2537), Germany
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 27, 2004 Marzipan nose, dark amber color, foamy head. Toasted, caramel malt base with a dissappointingly low hop bitter. Needs much more hops to be an IPA, really. Not so good in the end. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 15, 2004 Brown color, small head. Sweet malty nose - that is what dominates the taste too. Caramel and candy sugar flavor. Ok. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2004 on tap at andy’s. Amberish red with big fluffy head. Fruity aroma. Mildy sweet and since it was cask, not much carbination. I also thought it lacked the hop kick. Pleasent. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2004 On tap @ Andy’s Corner. Amber color with a big, thick, white head. Mild hop aroma, with some grapefruit and malt.
Mildly sweet malt flavor with hints of
fresh baked bread, citrus and a light
hoppy finish. Hop flavor very subdued.
Talked to others who agreed, most said this beer is usually much more hoppy.
That said, it was very smooth and drinkable.
